"better"/specialty knifes have an assymmetric cut, compensating (or using) the pressure towardsthe item-to-be-cut-holding hand. Such a knife actually works reverse for a left handed person.

with a certain ring size, it is very uncomfortable to write on the note book. So I typically rotate them 180°.
