Any forum is not the place to teach anyone about a subject so huge. Your best bet is picking up a bunch of books, most of which are not going to target VB/VB.NET. Learn DirectX first, you might even learn a new language in the process.

Some time all that people need is some guidance.

So far I don't know much about DirectX but a good start is to make the Visual Studio recognize the DirectX libraries like.

Oh and BTW: The Managed DirectX SDK was discontinued years ago. It has since been replaced by the XNA Framework.

Just for the sake of it... I found a solution and I will share it here.

It is very simple and worked with the DirectX11

Private dff as Audio

Yeah, it'll work with just about any version of Direct 8 or 9, but the capabilities exposed by the Managed SDK only cover through DirectX 9. Anything beyond that and you won't be able to use it without writing a ton of interop code yourself.

Custom Trace Listener & .exe.config

Hi!

I have created a custom trace Listener class, called "DBTraceListener"

it works fine when i add it manually in code :
(eg. Trace.listeners.add(new DBTraceListener("myDBListener", TraceLevel.Verbose, getDBConnection) )

What I'm trying to achieve now is to add this listener via the MyApplication.exe.config file

Here is my configuration file:

<system.diagnostics>
<trace autoflush="true" indentsize="4">
<listeners>
<remove name="Default">
<add name="myDBListener" type="DBTraceListener">

Unfortunately, when im executing the application the DefaultTraceListener is removed BUT my DBTraceListener is not added!!! and I dont get any exceptions! So what is going on?

highlighting after datagrid sort in vb.net

Hi all,

I just have a question regarding the datagrid's column header sort function.
See, i wish to loop through the sorted table and then highlighted the required rows. So i inserted my highlighting code in the datagrid mouseup function.

However, this function is done BEFORE the datagrid sorting is done, so in the end, the wrong rows end up being highlighted. Is there anyway for me to add my highlighting code AFTER the sorting of the datagrid is done?

This problem has me stumped for awhile, hope help arrives soon!

Hey you could use the

Private Sub DataGrid1_ItemDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As DataGridItemEventArgs)

End Sub

event as it is called for ever record in the datagrid during the databind.

How can i trim a cloumn value in datarow so that balnk spaces are not taken, because currently datarow picks the length of the column and shows the value so blank spaces are not ignored

I have an MTS component which I want to register through package and deployment wizard of VB, the package hould have a setup.exe and which will create a package and register the component in the package on MTS. please suggest if this can be done through package and deployment wizard, if there is any other way kindly suggest the same..

hi all i have 2 forms i need to have the contents of form1 transfered to form2. in vb6 it was as simple as loading the form and setting the controls on that form = the controls on the active form.
ex. frmContactInfo.txtFName.text = txtFName.text
WHy oh why did they remove this simple yet nice way of doing this?

any easy way of doing this in VB.Net?

my form names are

Name = form 1
ContactInfo = form 2

each have 2 text boxes

a example would be nice

Because its not proper OOP.

How you want to transfer your information is not proper either. All your transferable data should be stored in a shared class object that either Form class uses to retrieve and store the shared data. That way, neither form class has to know anything about the form.

Hey,

From your problem, you could use inheritence in vb.net where you can use controls from one form in another using all the code behind the controls also.

Was the .EXE your trying to decompile originaly written in C# or VB.NET? If not, don't even bother. You can't decompile just any .EXE into VB.NET or C#. It MUST be a .NET Framework targeted .EXE writen in any language that targets the .NET CLR, except Visual C++.

SendKeys won't send just a modifier key. You have to have an alphanumeric key between those braces also. The only way to send just the Ctrl key is to use SendMessage API call and post the WM_KEYDOWN and WM_KEYUP messages to the appropriate window.
