i m using the same toolkit sample the problem is at step 3 of MSDE Bootstrapper it says the location does not contain any valid MSDE files which i have populated with sql database file and if u can tell me what to put for four value in the combo box.

If you are referring to the window that reads
"MSDE 2000 bootstrap loader configurator (Page 3 of 6)", you need to choose a location for EACH of the values in the combo box.
None of those values is the location of YOUR database. Your database should
be packaged with your application's intallation files and the restoring of it
done either manually or programatically by your application. The bootstrapper does NOT do restoring of databases.
The value that should go in the "MSDE Files" option is the location where the MSDE installation files are (the files you'd run if you wanted to install MSDE manually). Nothing to do with your database.
The value should be drive:\whereveryouinstalledthedeploymentkit\template\cd\msde\
As far as your database files are concerned, they should be added to your apps setup package as just another file(s). Then the person who installs the app restores the database manually, OR you write some code in your app that checks for the db and restores it if not there.

Using mapi32.dll with vb.net to compose and show a new mail message with attachments works with Outlook Express but not Outlook 2000. I can bring up a message in Outlook 2000 ONLY if it doesn't have attachments. The error returned while trying to attach files is "Unspecified Error"! Anybody knows what's up?

The files I'm trying to attach are jpg picture files. They are not in the level 1 (unsafe) category. I turned off the security for attachments and it didn't make any difference.

I have a tabcontrol which I have added a MonthCalendar1 to Tabpage1.
Is it possible to display this MonthCalendar1 on another Tabpage?
If so how would I go about doing this? Or would I just add another MonthCalendar to this Tabpage?

Hi There
I'm badly stuck trying to get what seems to be a very simple crystal report to display in the report viewer. I am using the .NET 2003 version of CR (which I have been told that is basically version 9.0) and SQL Server 2000.
I have been through multiple articles/tutorials regarding this issue but all seem to be based on creating design time SqlDataAdapter, SqlDataConnection, DataSet objects. However, I require these objects (or at least the adapter) to be created at runtime as the query that the report can be based on is dynamically built by the user.
So just to get a handle on what is going on I thought I would try a very simple single table query before messing around with the actual multi-table inner-outer join nightmare that I really need. That was three days ago...
I have created a dataset by dragging the single table "tbl_Students" onto the dataset design form. I can't see anything else I have to do here. I also created the crystal report using the report expert and simply added all the fields of the table to this report.
Here is the rest of my code:

Dim adCmd As New SqlCommand("SELECT * FROM tbl_Course", adConn)

I continually get Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer Error that simply says Query Engine Error with a path to some temp_GUID.rpt file in my user profile. If I do the design time drag and drop with a connection object, adapter object and a dataset object all works well, but this is not what I need. Any help will be much appreciated.

Okay - success!!
Despite my code posting not making any sense let me assure you that that was just a cut and paste error. However the problem really was that when I called the .Fill method of the DataAdapter I didn't specify which table to use for the field mappings. If you don't, the report comes out blank! Hmmmm, what about when I do the real multi-table query? I'm assuming I have to use the field mapping editor with the DataSet - yes?

Okay, now that I have mastered my single table report, I thought I would plunge into the multi-table report.
But I do have a couple of questions regarding the DataSet design. Do I just drag the tables onto the designer form and that's it? Do I have to worry about the relationships between the tables? Also, I do not require all the fields from all the tables. Can I eliminate some of the fields so the dataset fields more closely match the query? Does it matter one way or the other?
Thus far I just dragged the tables onto the designer and didn't do anything else and surprise surprise my report runs but it is blank. So, besides the above, is there anything else I need to worry about to get this report to run?
Again, any help is much appreciated

You can use Windows' Task Scheduler service to do this (see How To Use the AT Command to Schedule Tasks[^]).

I'd say creating a service is a good idea if you want to run something unattended and without desktop interaction. However keep in mind that if you create a service on your own you'll also be responsible for the scheduler logic. You'll have to decide which solution is most suitable for your requirements.

Hey,
I am using a PDF printer.
I am setting the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" Device key to my PDF printer to set it as the default printer so that it is automatically selected when a application prints.
But some applications succesfully recognise the newly set key as the new default printer and others do not, and only see the previous default printer.
Is there another value that i need to check or set for all applications to use the newly set default printer?

I'm using code I found on Internet (www.TheScarms.com) to populate/update Excel data from VB.net project. When debugging I'm getting the following error:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in PRCoverSheet.exe
Additional information: Invalid index.

Is it possible to change printer settings through a VB .NET program? Ex Number of copies, duplex, custom paper type, etc

Hello everybody!
I have a trouble with Outlook. The following VB code
set objOLApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
objOLApp.Session.AddStore("c:\temp\test.pst")
perfectly adds new store but how can I get the root folder corresponding to this newly added store? If I were sure that this file is not yet added then I could collect EntryIDs before and after operation and find the difference. But I'm not sure because of statement of work. Is there a way to establis correspondence between root folder and store file name? As far as I know Outlook GUI allows this.

Can I consume a Webservice coded using ASP.NET & C# in a VisualBasic 6.0
application?
I read it can be done using Soap toolkit..but I a dont want to use it as it will be required to be installed on all the machines using that application.
