This behaviour is by design. You should probably be intercepting WM_INITDIALOG (OnInitDialog) instead.

Yes, I tried OnInitDialog() before and it worked. But I need the WM_CREATE message. And also the document for EVC still says that the OnCreate is still supported. Any one know??

Do you get a proper value from COLUMN_NAME? Note that DATA_TYPE is a numeric value.

I'm trying to compile a simple nothing wizard generated app with EVC 4.0 (with EVC4 SP2 applied). This project works just fine in EVC 3, so I'm at a loss as to what the problem is.
Here is the compile error I get:
C:\Tests\Embedded PDA\TryAgain\TryAgain.rc(11) : fatal error RC1015: cannot open include file 'afxres.h'.<br />
Error executing rc.exe.<br />
I've tried changing the include directories to point at the PPC 2003 SDK but it still doesn't compile. I guess it's better (or at least different) because before it was complaining about not finding AYGSHELL.H.
I know it's probably something simple, but it's gotten the best of me. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it doesn't seem to help.

Hi,
I'm pretty new to CE and have just started writing an app for a board with has a flash disk. I'm wondering how (if possible) to move the object store so that it resides on the flash disk.

Hello,
A small question:
What happens with timers running in an app when the device goes into suspension and then wakes up?
e.g. A timer that is fired every 2 minutes, the timer has run for 1 minute when device goes into suspension.. When the device wakes up, will that timer fire its event after 1 minute (the remaining time when device got suspended) or 2 minutes (its actual fire interval) or another time-interval (depending on time device was suspended)??? or will the app keep firing the events while the app is suspended?

You can check it yourself: make a small application wich fires a timer (every 5 minutes for example) and there, open a file and print the current time. Run your app and test it with suspension mode...

Here I'm facing a problem in PocketPC2003 that, when I'm going to Ping a URL using InternetOpenURL() API then it is getting success but I'm actually not connected to the Internet. Can anybody tell me how to Ping an URL without using InternetOpenURL()to know internet connectivity in the PocketPC2003.

You can use either SQL CE or "Pocket Access". The first is directly supported by .NET CF, so you will find classes to use this engine. For "Pocket Access", you will have to purchase a library from In The Hand[^].

I´m working on some directx functions and I need to have full control over the pixeldata pointer to a directdraw surface, It worked in Visual c++ but I get some funny stripe kind of pattern in wince, it´s supposed that the function should fill the surface with red color.

Hi,
I'm sure this should be easy. How do you determine what button the user clicks on in a msgBox.
I have a msgBox with an OK and Cancel button and just want to exit the method if the cancel button is clicked.

Not suspend or reset but actual shut down.
I once had a link to a page that had the answer to that, but I never needed it up to now, and now the link is dead  bummer...

Is there a place that I can specify files in addition to the project output (usually EXE)? This pertains to EVC3 & EVC4.
This is so that I can have one project copy 3rd-party DLLs to the PDA (especially the emulator) so I don't have to keep copying them on a fresh image of the PDA.
I've looked at every setting I could find to no avail. Hopefully someone who has done this longer than me (not a hard feat, since this is only my second week) will know how/where to put them.
Could it be as simple as making them dependencies for the project and just turning off the compile option for them? I'll go try that now.

How do I do a right click in the emulator (EVC3 & EVC4)?
I've had the need to rename a couple of files after copying them from my dev computer but to no avail on the emulated PDA. Does anyone know how or can point me to keyboard short-cuts for the emulator?

I am not sure this is your want. To right click, Press the left mouse key and don't release. The context menu will be shown. Like you use your tap pen tap on a PDA's screen.

Okay. I'll try that again, but when I did that I seem to remember that it was the same as clicking with the right mouse key. Hopefully, I'm mis-remembering.

I tried it again, and you're right. It's just that in this case with the EVC3 emulator, it was, for some reason, taking WAY too long before it registered. If I click and hold it for 5-10 seconds, it then registers and SLOWLY starts drawing the dotted circle and then gives me the context menu.
Whew! Who knew?
