I just upgraded from XP Home to Pro and I installed IIS but there is no shortcut to it in Admin. tools. My localhost is up and IIS Admin is running as a service. Anyone know how get my shortcut so I can open the IIS snap-in?

Hello,
I have written a Web-Service and an ASP.NET Client and i wanted to use the SoapLogger from . I do all the tasks quoted in this paper. (for instance copy the quoted code from this paper in my class-file.).
But when i then execute my ASP.Net Client and call a Web-Service Method, where i add the SoapLogger Attrribute in the WebService-Directive the following error occurs:

In the application, I am using two windows (parent and child). On session expiry, the child window which is the current one is redirecting the user to the login page by using the following code.

At this time, I want to close the parent window. How can I do this. Please help !!

Mark is right - you'll have to have some client side javascript to take care of that parent window. A simple parent.close() should do it. (Taking that from memory - probably won't work  Make sure to check if the parent window is there, otherwise you'll get an error from the login page when first going to it.

Hi,
I'm writing a credit card application and one of the things that I need to determine is if the credit card is a corporate card or a purchase card. If it is, I need to display the user another screen to capture additional information. I have a database that contains card ranges that are cards that fall into this category.
Since I've never written a Web Service, I'm not exactly sure what they are for. But I'm thinking that this is a perfect Web Service. I can load the card ranges into a table in memory and then issue a request to the Web Service to determine if this card is a corporate card. This would save a trip out to the database for every card authorization.
Is this what you use a Web Service for?

I wish to test out my website using IIS.
Problem is, being that the website is normally hosted online, I use the following virtural include(s) quite a bit.
Obviously this is generating an error when I try and run the website on my computer using IIS.
Is there a simple way around this with out having to go through the whole website changing all the includes from virtual to file...
I eagerly await any reply’s!!

If it's for a skin like app then try this tutorial

If you want two style sheets in one page then simply do this with a single CSS tag:

If you want cross-browser support you have to go the Java Applet route. Ugh. Problem being each browser does it's own editable HTML area system.
Someone would do well to wrap-up an ASP.NET control which spits out the right code for IE, Moz, Safari. Opera etc. and lets the developer stick with one control.

All of these are IE only except for Free Text Box which is just beginning to make theirs compatible but still has a lot of bugs and no where near the features of the link I provided.

I'm getting there slowly...
I'm now at the point where I can scan a credit card mag data and parse the data through a JavaScript and place the appropriate information on the screen. The problem I now have is how do I pass the original data back to the server? I thought I could store this in a hidden field and set the hidden field to the original credit card data before I parsed it.
The problem I have is JavaScript will not let you set the value of a hidden field. It doesn't give me an error, just causes my entire script to stop mid stream. I'm using IE Version 6 SP 1.
I thought about Session Variables but that is server side and the script is written client side.
I thought about sending the data via the URL as a variable but it is sensitive information and I do not want to do that. Mastercard and Visa would serve my head on a platter for that one. I'm not sure a cookie would do the trick, I'm not that experienced with cookies. Something tells me that cookies are not very secure.
Anyone have a suggestion on what to do?
