Hi,
I'm wanting to track the clicks a user takes through a menu in a Pocket PC VB.net App (.net compact framework)
Clicks are not registering when a user clicks a sub menu?
Does anybody know how to call the 'Popup' event when a user click on a sub menu?

Hello,
I have installed a 3rd party library that has 2 assemblies that get registered in the GAC. When I use the 1.1 Framework configuration tool to view cached assemblies, I see both assemblies listed and when I check the properties for both, I see that each is pointing to the correct file and location. However, when I start a new project in VS.NET 2003 Pro, and bring up the add reference dialog box, I only see one of the assemblies listed in the .NET tab. I can browse and find the assembly and add it manually to my project and then my app compiles successfully. However, if they both show in the cache list in the configuration tool, what would prevent one from not showing in VS Studio?

Nevermind. The issue has been solved. It was a invalid registry entry added by the installation software.

Can anyone offer any insight into how I can monitor CPU usage by thread within a c# .NET application? Ideally I am looking for a task-manager like application which exposes the utilisation for each thread within the application process (in a way that the threads can be identified - eg showing thread name).
Using System.Diagnostics.GetProcesses and the ProcessThreadCollection I can see the CPU used by each thread, but how do I correlate these threadids with my application threads?

when the Form is load
i want to see in the datagrid the last data that enterd
the last page
i dont want to scroll down the datagrid scroller any time the form is loaded
i want it to be automaticely .

I tried to update data to a access2000-db using oledb. All memo-fields with more than 255 chars are not updated. The saved string in the database is always cutted down to 255 chars.
Does anybody has an idea how to solve the problem?

I have a larger vb.net project with about 15 assemblies and I am using reflection in the project. I tried to pre-compile them to native images using ngen. JIT-compiler seems to ignore the native images in the global assembly cache because the startup time does not improve for our desktop-solution.
Does any body knows what could have gone wrong for our project?

I have an VB ActiveX DLL with a function the receives a string parameter.
I want to call this function from C#.
I made a reference to the DLL in my VS 2003 project.
DLL Function
--------------
public function ShowMsg (strIn as String)
msgbox strIn
end function
C# Function Call
------------------
string str1 = "ABCD";
Class7 s = new Class7Class();
s.ShowMsg(str1);
When I call the function from C#, I get an error:
Argument '1': cannot convert from 'byte[]' to 'ref string'
How do I marshal a C# string to an ActiveX DLL string?

It always works for me, but then I always use byval in my function parameters. Maybe that will help.

I have a C# project that references an ActiveX DLL.
I have registered the DLL using the VS IDE.
I want to make some changes to the DLL and consequently register the new version with the IDE.
1. How do I remove the existing reference so I can register the new DLL?
2. Where do I see the registered files for a given project?

I built the DLL (Message.dll) using VB6 as an ActiveX DLL.
In VS 2003:
I used the Add Reference utility, COM tab to select the DLL and add it to my project.
Intellisense shows me the single function I created in the DLL.
I then added functions to the DLL and I want to reference them in my C# code. The IDE tells me I need to remove the reference to the old DLL before I can use the new one.
I see the Interop.Message.dll in the bin-Debug directory of my project.
I assume something needs to be removed/unregistered from the project before I can reference the DLL but I don't see how to perform the task.

I found the reference in the solution explorer and removed it there.

since your Dll not resides in GAC
The solution is so simple
In your project
1)Go to Add reference tab
2) then remove the dll who have added before
3.apply
4.Add the new dll once again
5.Now check that ur newly added functions will be
there
Hint:whenever u change the functions or methods in
the referring Dll (if u want that changes have to
be get reflected in ur application) then remove
the reference and add the reference once agian

The problem is that the only place the dll is displayed is on the COM tab. I don't see how you remove a reference using that dialog box.
I used the Browse window to find the interop assembly and deleted the file thru that dialog. But the project still builds OK so that did not remove the reference.
Your statment 2) says "remove the dll".
Which tab are you referring to?
Where exactly am I viewing the dll to remove it?
I have since found the references in the solution explorer. I can remove the dll reference there. But for my understanding, I would like to duplicate your method.

Hello,
I have the following problem creating a screen saver with multihead support:
I create a windows form that spans multiple monitors. In the constructor I resize the form to match the whole desktop - that works fine. As the last step, I change Location.X and Location.Y to the offset of the upper left edge of the desktop. In my testing case this is -1024, -768, since I moved the secondary display to the upper left of my primary screen.
The problem is, even when the values are set correctly (at least the debugger tells me that), the values will be reset and the window will be displayed at 0,0.
How can I force the form to be shown at the location I define in the constructor?

So I think I have to 'translate' the C++ files to C# ones. Is it possible in VB.NET IDE to view the RESULT of the select statement if you're debugging an stored procedure on VB IDE? If not is there a tool that I could use so i could view the result of the query and even view the data on any temp table i created on stored procedure. Because i'm having problems seeing what data is injected on my temp table during debug mode.

I m writing a simple Chatting app'n using .Net Remoting.I kept a Client side remote object and one at serverside .The serverside remote object is published ! All the clients who register with it will be having a remote object.Server responds by calling back the client side remote method.
During registration process, i m passing the client side remote object as a parameter by reference only ,as the class of client side remote object is inheriting from MarshalByRef class.But it s raising the following exception:
Because of security restrictions System.Runtime.Remoting.ObjRef cannot be accessed.System.Security.SecurityException
Can some body help me in this regard please.

I have this application written in VB.net that uploads data. I have few clients that does uploads data using ‘UploadmyFile.exe’ that’ s the vb.net application they only needs .net framework to run this .exe.
I have few clients which are able to upload without any error but 3 guys are having a problem. they are getting an error message box pop up where they get above error.
They reinstall the .net framework. They are not using win98 or dell.
Any idea what else can be wrong? and how to fix i? Again not all users are getting this error and they all are using the same UploadmyFile.exe.
