I want to start a project in VisualC++, with VS .NET 2003. Is there any way to make the app work on a machine that has .NET framework not installed ? If not is there a VC++ (or higher) with no .NET ?

Yes. Just make sure you select one of the unmanaged project types, from the ATL, MFC or Win32 categories. Obviously you can't use any .NET features.

is there a default mail server reference string using .net. I have a little app that I send email on, but I want to ensure that it always obtains the correct mail server.
If there is not a default mail server, how would a person determine the mail server that is being used?

Since assembly compiles in IL, the binary reusability paradigm introduced by COM is no longer alive.
Is an assembly a healthier substitute of classic COM infrastructure ??? There also lies a performance trade-off in using assemblies as they are JUST in TIME compiled while COM components are pre-compiled.
What are the major benefits of using assemblies over COM ?? I've never encountered DLL HELL issues then why should i use assemblies ??

If it concerns you that much why not just run the assemblies through ngen first and compile them in to a native format in advance.

Hi,
I want to find out whether some application is trying to access the network resource like internet (HTTP,SMTP POP,FTP etc etc. –any sort of network resource usage) or any other network resource like mapped drives,VPN etc.
I want to capture this .
Secondly I want to determine which application is trying to access that resource.
Specifically in .NET , is there such support for firewall packet sniffing in .NET

Hi,
.NET is not a jack of all trades  You will need to implement it yourself using WinSock layered providers, which is not an easy thing to implement

Sn.exe computes the token using a hash function from the public key. I don't know what the specific hash function is, but it should be easy to find out through experimentation. Probably either MD5 or SHA1.

I've answered your questions because this is for educational purposes, and also because knowing these things does not in fact allow the "attack" of the signed assembly.
To verify the assembly's digital signature, the CLR uses the assembly's public key to decrypt the assembly's digital signature, resulting in the original, calculated hash. In addition, the CLR uses the information in the assembly's manifest to dynamically generate a hash. This hash value is then compared with the original hash value. sorry for replying so late. I've had a look at the bootstrapper sample but there are a couple of questions remaining. I guess you've been searching for a solution yourself one time, so this is why I ask.
The ini-file has an option to set the MSI file. Which MSI file? How do I pack my application into an MSI file? And if I would be able to pack my application into an MSI file, what would I need the Bootstrapper for? Only for installing the dotnet framework and langpack?

Hi
The msi file is created using the visual studio. Select the project type as Setup and Deployment project and follow the wizard to create the msi file.
Yes bootstrapper is for redistributing the Dotnet framework with your application.
In case if you assume that the client has dotnet framework you dont need that. You only need the setup created using Setup and deployment project.

Hi there
I have win2003 which includes the .NET Framework v1.1.4322
but when I install VS2002, it intalls the framework v1.0.3705 and I cannot use the newer framework.
If I uninstall v1.0.3705, VS says that the compiler is missing.
How can I tell VS2002 to use the other framework?

Instead of printing "No errors have been found", a compiler should rather print "None of your errors have been found", which would be, in most cases, true.

You cannot tell VS2002 to use the newer framework, unfortunately. Hard to believe, but its true 
You an still compile a v1.1 version, but you have to use an external build tool, like Nant.

After working so long to finish my app, guess what? It is one week that I struggle with Obfuscators. No one, after scrambling my app, make it work like before. What the hell of solution are these? 
Any one is experiencing this nightmare too?
I tryed dotfuscator and xenocode.
Any suggestions?

I used to suffer a similar nightmare and that was people who wrote obfuscated code straight off the bat.
