Hi there
I have win2003 which includes the .NET Framework v1.1.4322
but when I install VS2002, it intalls the framework v1.0.3705 and I cannot use the newer framework.
If I uninstall v1.0.3705, VS says that the compiler is missing.
How can I tell VS2002 to use the other framework?

Instead of printing "No errors have been found", a compiler should rather print "None of your errors have been found", which would be, in most cases, true.

You cannot tell VS2002 to use the newer framework, unfortunately. Hard to believe, but its true 
You an still compile a v1.1 version, but you have to use an external build tool, like Nant.

Hi guys,
After working so long to finish my app, guess what? It is one week that I struggle with Obfuscators. No one, after scrambling my app, make it work like before. What the hell of solution are these? 
Any one is experiencing this nightmare too?
I tryed dotfuscator and xenocode.
Any suggestions?

I used to suffer a similar nightmare and that was people who wrote obfuscated code straight off the bat.

Hello!
I'm writting an app that downloads binary files via http from a server but I'm getting very slow download speeds. I'm getting around 10% - 50% of what I get with Internet Explorer's 'Save Target As' command.
Below is the code I'm using for the reading of the stream from HttpGetResponseStream(). The code is inside a download function which I call about 30 times in a row, the app is single threaded so everything is happening in the main thread. Sometimes the first download goes at the proper speed then all subsequent downloads get progressivily slower.
While my app is downloading a file if I use Internet Explorer's 'Save Target As' on the same file I get a much faster download speed, so I know the server isn't clogged. Somehow this code just doesn't download at max speed. I've tried WebClient.DownloadFile() and that is even slower than the code below.
Any help is *greatly* appreciated!

Does anybody know if there is possibility in .NET to connect to an existing local DataSet like you usually connect to a remote DB?
I have multiple tables in my dataset and I'd like to get a DataView that allows full SQL support. I would like to join/link multiple tables and get the resultset. If I use the DataView object I only can filter data for one single table, no joins are possible.
Any ideas what the connection string for the OleDbConnection must look like (using an OleDbDataAdapter)? Or are there other ways to achieve this?
I cannot connect to my remote data source starting a fitting SQL based query because my data source doesn't speak SQL. So I had to fill my DataSet tables manually.

I have downloaded sdk 1.1 and farmewok 1.1 but my visual studio version is 1.0 and i couldn't find any upgrades to 1.1 version can you tell me where i can find a download or it does not exist...

I don't think there's such a thing as an upgrade.
VS.NET means .NET 1.0, VS 2003 means .NET 1.1.
But if you have both versions they can be used together on the same machine.

I would like to add AfterCollapse handler to the treeView object using compact framework. However, it seems that CF does not support aftercollaspse event handle. Is there any other ways to add this event handler?

What version are you referring to? .NET 2.0 Beta 1 was just released yesterday.

I don't recall the exact date but V1.0 of the .NET Framework came out early 2002. I was using the beta from sometime in early to mid 2001 though (I definitely was using it by TechEd 2001). I'd say that a person claiming 4 years experience (which would take them back to Mid 2000) is just on the verge of reality (rounding up to the nearest year) or a Microsoft employee.

A .NET language would probably suit that kind of application quite well. So the fact that you currently use VB.NET is a bonus.

I created a vb.net database application. Now I want to install the application in the client side. Am not sure if he has framework or not.
Can I include the .Net framework with the setup and distribute to the client.
If so how. ?

Amazing... I tried this week to create a Web project. It can't be done. This is on a Win2K Server with IIS5.0, with every service pack and update installed. The .Net Framework 1.1 is also installed. I attempted to use VB.Net 2003 to create a web project, but it fails every time. The error reported by VB is HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error. How helpful... The Event Viewer is a bit more specific -

The Technet Knowledge Base gives instructions for adding permissions to various folders, and I've done that repeatedly. The above error is being generated every 30 seconds by something, but there's no way to determine what's causing it. The error resolution tool at Technet returns no result - like most errors do.
Any suggestions, short of switching to Linux and hoping that Microsoft gets the demise it so richly deserves?
Some people think of it as a six-pack; I consider it more of a support group.
