Inherit CBook from CObject. Then create a similar Serialize(..) function for your CSubject. Call m_oBooks.Serialize(...) in it. If you have pointers in CBook class, i think you need to implement an override for CBook::Serialize(...) too.

OK but I have one or more CSubject objects and I wish to serialize them all to disk.

So I have a data file which is called library.dat and I want to serialize to this file all my CSubject objects with all the CBook objects each CSubject object contains.

Is this something that CObject will do for me if all my object data members are simple?

Method 1
- Inherit your CSubject from CObject
- Put all your CSubject objects into an array like CObArray
- To save them, call m_oMyObArray.Serialize(...)

Method 2
Assume you have implemented a save function of your CSubject as below:

Just call Save(...) for each of your CSubject objects, passing in your CArchive object. For example,

Dear guys,
Some MFC program runs well.
Someone uses the task manager(by cntl + alt + del) and selects my mfc.
And than, kill my program.

Can I protect my process from the task manager's kill signal?
Additionaly, i don't wanna use the windows's service mechanism(a.k.a daemon)

I think there is a way you can do it but you will need windows hooks.
The cbtroc call back function monitorises when windows are destroyed and get the handle,module filename.
Read More about this in my article about the simple fireawall. There I explain more about windows process hooks.

SIG_KILL (or another name like that) cannot be catch. this is to prevent any restive process to stay in memory wastefully.

Hello,

I have two program call it A.EXE and B.EXE . B.EXE will actually invoke the A.EXE through CreateProcess API and establish some piping. If you familiar with wsinetd - Windows Simple inetd daemon or inetd. That is exactly what B.exe does. B.EXE listen to a port number and spawn process based on port number it accept from client which in this case the process been spawned is A.EXE. The communication between A.EXE and B.EXE is through piping. I can get the thing up but the problem now is I need to debug A.EXE in the IDE (meaning I can set break point and etc) cause basically there is where the logics lie.

I have generated the debug info for A.EXE and B.EXE and it is denifitely in debug mode. The compiler setting is /MTd /W3 /DWIN32 /ZI /Od. The PDB file for A.EXE and B.EXE are created and stored in the same directory as A.EXE and B.EXE. I have step into B.EXE no problem but I could not step into the spawned process A.EXE. Any remedies. I have thought of using remote debugging but no luck. Any debugging gurus out there that could shed me light?

Maybe this would work for you:

DebugBreakProcess

The DebugBreakProcess function causes a breakpoint exception to occur in the specified process. This allows the calling thread to signal the debugger to handle the exception.

BOOL DebugBreakProcess(HANDLE Process);

Have B call this soon after it launches A...

Actually, your answer is the same as my colleague but my colleague mentioned DebugBreak instead. I have tested it. It doesn't work on DebugBreakProcess but DebugBreak. I think DebugBreakProcess will only work on another process.

The BSTR Value is UNICODE Value, you should use a routine to convert from Unicode to ANSI.

Using cast method, you can lose data, and you can have memory leaks.

The best way to do it is :

USES_CONVERSION
char* a = W2A(bstrvalue);

IMHO you should use UNICODE type, like wchar ao rather than char.

To prevent to have 2 types, you can use TCHAR.

I do this:
m_valueSearchBox.SetWindowText(initValue);
if I do this the initValue string (CString) wil be selected, but I need the cursor behind the text so you can type an appending text.
SetSeldoesn't seem to work?

I do this:

(it's SET not GET, but not important).
What happens is that the cursor is behind the text, BUT the text is selected, so if you start typing ... Frown | :(

I tried SetFocus() and SetSel with about every value possible.
SetSel(-1, nPos, FALSE/TRUE); (nPos = length, length-1 ,... as first and/or second parameter etc.)

It just doesn't seem to work.
Normally it should, but maybe it's due to something else (processor or something)

It must be something other then.

I tried this in a test project:

CString str = _T("Test");<br />
m_cEdit.SetWindowText(str);<br />
int nPos = str.GetLength();<br />
m_cEdit.SetSel(nPos, nPos, TRUE);<br />
m_cEdit.SetFocus();

And it does exactly what you want. "Test" is written into the edit control and the cursor is at the end, nothing is selected.

Maybe check for other things that could influence the selection and focus (UpdateData, returning FALSE in OnInitDialog, and all those things)

Hi All, On win2000 I have created an exe file to list and load dll files. Selecting a dll should load an API file, also a dll. LoadLibrary() works in the exe but not in a dll. Can anyone tell me what's wrong?
