I was wondering where i can get some info on the protocalls used by bank and stock servers. I need to make ann app which can buy and sell stock while managing money in specific bank acounts.

I have just upgraded (still not really sure if it is an upgrade) to Visual Studio .NET
Using Visual C++ I have a library that needs to be linked to my app from the directory it was built in dependant on whether I am compiling for the debug or release version. So I have added the path to Tool/Options/VC++Directories/Library Files with the $(ConfigurationName) macro on the end. But it seems to make no difference, I can only get it to work if I put in the complete path.
Is this the correct macro? Or any tips?

Add the appropriate directory to each configuration using the project property pages.
Using the project properties dialog box, navigate to linker->general->additional library directories. Add the directory for the appropriate folder, then change the configuration and add the other folder.
The ($ConfigurationName) macro may even be usable for 'all configurations'

These two statements contradict each other.
Did you even look at the code in the MSDN article Q241492, specifically step 6? That's C++ code that can be used with or without ATL.

Create a new EXE using the code in step 6. But if you aren't going to be using the code on an IIS machine, it's pretty pointless.

When I write a net program, I use CSocket class to communicate with the serve. but after connected, i can't find a way to identify whether the server is still connecting. who can help me, please.

I have converted an old Visual C++ 6.0 into a Visual Net project.
After some reprogramming the program works fine when it is
beeing started from inside .NET (Ctrl + F5)
However when I try to start it using the exe file created by
.NET it will not start. The exe tries to start and uses almost
100% of the available CPU power, but then it only hangs and
the GUI never appears.
I tried to start the exe files on several different computers
and the same error occurs on all of them.
Anyone who have had this problem and know how to solve it?

i need to import a library file(winmm.lib) into my project using VC++.NET. The way to do that is so different from VC++ 6.0. Does anyone know how to do?

how about

that should work on both 6.0 and .NET

you need to announce the whole path to your library file inside the pragma comment instruction ...
#pragma comment(lib, "path_to_lib/libname.lib")

yes, but when do that, we've just showed VC++ where to find the library. Where do we put the library name?

There is no need to write your lib name in project settings. The easy way is to just point to the directory the .lib file is stored or as already mentioned, like normaly you do with .h file ie. #include "test.h" with lib you write : #pragma comment (lib, "test.lib") wherever you use your library. thats it.
Make sure you compile your libraries in release mode when creating the .lib

hi all,
I am trying to open the word file in My ActiveX control, for which Internet Explorer is a Container. I am using OLE apis eg:OleLoad().
When i exectute the sample HTML the IE shows two window one for my activeX control(always on top) and behind that the Word Window, with file opened. (for testing i have hard coded the path to word file)
I don;t want like this, i want the word should be open in the My ActiveX control, How do I acheive the same.?
I guess these is because I am passing the wrong IOleClientsite pointer in OLELoad() function.

I got an application running on a client with low privilege. The application shall execute another program that needs administrator privilege to work appropriate. Is it possible to logon a privileged user with the LogonUser() function and then make a cal to CreateProcessAsUser() to execute the program with enough privilege? Do I also have to make a cal to LoadUserProfile(), and/or ImpersonateLoggedOnUser() before calling CreateProcessAsUser()??? Do I have to load any desktop or window station or some of that stuff?
I have done lots of reading on MSDN and coding, but with no result.
Is there somebody that can help me with this?

LogonUser in Windows 2000 requires that you have the Trusted Computing Base privilege, which by default means that only processes running as LocalSystem (also shown as SYSTEM) get to call it.
Windows XP and Server 2003 no longer require this privilege; however, you still need privileges typically only granted to Administrators and to SYSTEM in order to call CreateProcessAsUser.
Instead, I suggest using CreateProcessWithLogonW. This function communicates with the RunAs service, which has the necessary privileges. The command line runas tool is effectively just a wrapper around CreateProcessWithLogonW.

Hello everybody,
I inserted a static control into dialog box in dialog editor. I set it's styles to: Border, Center vertical. But when I run program or tested dialog by Layout -> Test command, the static displayed with border and sunken styles (that mean, it include WS_BORDER and SS_SUNKEN styles thought I did not).
I am using Visual C++ 6 SP5.
Why that? How can I fix it?

What you are seeing is the 3D effect, not the SS_SUNKEN style.
