Dear friends, i wanted to know that how can i write code behind toolbar panels.. when eevr i double click on toolbar it takes me to buttonclick event of toolbar.. but how can i code behind the buttons i placed upon toolbar?

When you click on a toolbar, the toolbar's ButtonClick event is fired and the button that was click is passed in ToolBarButtonClickEventArgs - its button property contains the index of the button (from the Buttons collection).
You could deal with it using a: Select Case yourToolBarName.Buttons.IndexOf (e.Button) for example.

No, you could use If...End If.

I've assumed an Open button, a Save button and a SaveAs button. For the Open button, I've pointed it at what might be the routine you've already written to handle a traditional menu item called mnuFileOpen.
Select Case toolbar.Buttons.IndexOf(e.button)
Case 0
mnuFileOpen_Click(Nothing, Nothing)
Case 1
SaveFile()
Case 2
SaveFileAs()
Case Else ' Other values.
'Since you should know how many buttons you've got, you shouldn't
'need a Case Else.
End Select
Don't forget that if you've used separators, they'll be on this list. E.g. If you have a separator after the Open button, you should code:
Case 1
Case 2
SaveFile()
etc.

i instantly need a code , in VB.NET, that ACTUALLY RUNS for uploading files to the hard drive.
theres an article by manoj rajan , on uploading files using VB.NET.
its a 4-5 lines of code and it just doesnt work.
so any instant help in this regard?

You never mentioned where your uploading from, what protocol, what type of client or server, nothing... I can only assume this is a POST from an HTML page? Or maybe an FTP upload? ...? ...?

Then the protocols involved are HTTP and TCP/IP.
The files you send to the web server, in an HTTP POST, are stored either whever the web application is stored or whever the application puts them.
You haven't given any details about what your trying to do, so it's hard to come up with meaningful answers...
Are you trying to upload website pages to a web server? What kind of server (UNIX, IIS, ...)? Is this an app to upload apges anywhere on the server?

Dave i am trying to upload simple word, power point, PDF documents.
i am developing a virtual univeristy application.
the purpose is that the students should be able to view soft copies of books in their browsers.
suppose i have a book of Computer Communicaiton by Andrew S. tennenbaum,
A student searches for the said book by some query string, the results appear in a datagrid like hyperlinks. as soon as he clicks the hyperlink, the book opens up in his browser, now he may either choose to view it or save it his hard disk.
i should be able to upload books(soft copy) to some central server, like my pc.
similarly students wud also require to upload their submitted course work to some central server.now tell me how wud they achieve this?
that they upload their work and it is uploaded to the server, in that case that is my machine?
please correct me if i am not on the right track.
also tell me will it be more feasible if and the students uploaded their stuff to a database?
if yes then do tell me how to upload to SQL server ?
my application is in ASP.net (with VB.net)

The file would be uploaded to the web server. If that is the machine under your desk, so be it. You can check into an article here[^] on CodeProject that will demonstrate this. You could send the posted file up to a database but it will make it very difficult to open the file in Word or Excel without using a second client to download the file from the database. A better solution might be to manage your own filesystem on the server sorting the files by, maybe, class (CIS-101), then student name,... it's up to you how you want to manage the uploaded files...

where is the web server located in a PC?do u mean that the files will be uploaded to nay location i specify?

If you're asking this question, you're in serious trouble with this project! 
The location of the files depends on the web server software that is running on the machine. If it's Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS), then the default root directory of the web server will be in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot. If this directory doesn't exist, your machine doesn't have IIS installed.
The files will get uploaded to the directory that the page is hosted in. Maybe, something like C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\myASPnetApp. Once the file is uploaded to the web server, you can either move it to a more appropriate location or upload it to a database.

Because these are the most basic of details on the subject of running a web server, managing the file system, and storing things in an appropriate place to make administration easier. These are details that have nothing to do with writing code. If you don't know them, you're going to have a very difficult time writing code to get the machine to do these things for you.

I have MSAccess 2000 on Windows XP Pro - I have been using access on and off for ages but the version I am using now is all but unusable. I just added 460,000 into an emoty database - 124MB of data became 240MB of data - when I added another field (long integer, not indexed) then used VBA to add a sequential number the database became over 2GB in size. This always happens, meaning I cant do anything in Access.
Does anybody else get this?

Simple solution - SQL Server. Access is a desktop database relying entirely on the file system and was never meant to handle databases of this size, nor modifications to it like this. When you attempted to add the new field, you actually told Jet to rewrite the schema of the database and allocate room in the existing data for it. It doesn't do this in a seperate file. It does this inside the same .MDB file. In effect, you told Jet to duplicate everything in the database while adding the new field. Then, Jet will dump the original data, but not free the space at the beginning of the file that the original data occupied. If at all possible, open the database in Access and Compact it. This SHOULD rewrite the database back into a smaller file.

I realise that but why would it swell in size to 2GB? I have been using access for ages and this is a new phenomenon. It has become almost unusable. The stuff I use access for isn't worth bothering with SQL Server (or it wasn't until thus happened)

Open it in Access and compact/repair it to get it back down to a normal size... It could also be that the database was corrupt to begin with?...

The database wasn't corrupt, it was a brand new, newly populated, single table database. It happens every time, regardless of the data. Adding a single field should not inflate the size of the database up to 2GB - if it that happened MSAccess would have died a death a long time ago. I want to know why it is happening and if anybody else has had these issues.

After searching around the 'Net, it seems everyone is having this problem and it's not version specific. There are work arounds to compat the database back down, but nothing will prevent the bloat from happening. It appears to be the nature of the beast. I've never run into the problem to your extent simply because I do 99% of my work on SQL Server, even the small databases...

I think you should compact and repair it before you do anything. The long integer type is not too long for DB.

I'm using a TextBox (or could use a RichTextBox) to display a file. I want it to default to showing the last few lines of the file, rather than the first. I've had a look at MSDN but I can't seem to find anything relevant. Can you help?
