I would say download from http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/regmon.shtml Regmon and check what IE does when you clear the forms

I have a program where I make use of a proprietary DLL containing non vital code for the application. What I want is, if the user has the DLL, it's functionallity will be added, but if it's missing, the user will have to do without these extra features.
The only solutions I can come up with to this problem is to eiter load the DLL manually, having to find all functions I need (hundreds), or to create something close to a proxy-dll containing all application code for the extra features, linking it to the proprietary DLL, and in turn load this DLL manually.
None of these solutions is practical in terms of workload. Is there another, more simpel, way to do it?
Since my guess is no, I'd hope someone out there says yes

I have written WIN32 ( Non MFC ) dll using VC++ 6.0 visual studio. The exported functions are called by another application. This works correctly on my PC.
I have copied the EXE and dll on another PC. The application runs without any errors but the values returned from the functions are not correct. Mostly the intialised values are returned (i.e. if boolean is initialised to TRUE , the it is only returned)
Do I have to do something else so that functions behave correcly on all the machine ?

make sure the proper dll's is called. You may have the dll in more than 1 place.

Copy your dll in the same folder as exe just so that your latest dll will be loaded or else search and delete all the other copies of dll.

But still I am having same problem.
I tried putting message Box in the dll function.
But it seems that the value of the variable in the dll function itself is 'intialised or 0 value' on the other PC and is correct on my PC.
O.S. is Win2k on both PCs.

Check out MSXML, which allows you to use either a DOM or SAX object to handle data in XML format - there's also xerces, and a number of other alternatives.

Take a look at Expat. IF you search for "Expat" here on CP, there's an article about using it in a C++ program.
Somebody suggested checking out MSXML - beware! It requires a certain version of IE, and on some operating systems, an additional package to be installed.

Hallo!!
I have a problem:
When I make my DLL in Realise-Modus, it is crashing , maybe by deleting at the heap, but i can 't see the location in the Program because of Realise Modus.
When I make a Debug-DLL, it doesent crash.
What can I do to Debug the crash in Realise-Modus or to bring it crashing also in Debug-Modus??
I Use Visual C++.net compiler .(7.Compiler)

I have written a dll which has a shared variable
static BOOL bMoved = TRUE ;defined in pragma.
I am using a exported function that is called by one application to make this flag FALSE.
So when my application call this function,
bMoved=FALSE; gets executed but when my another exported function which send the value of this variable.
It is always returned as TRUE.
Kindly help me in resolving this issue.

Hi,
I'm planning to implement a kind-of garbage collect scheme for an application that has to load multiple (10..100) blocks of possibly huge data.
My idea is to load the data when first needed, and keep it around (even when currently not needed anymore). I want to "monitor" Windows (application idle handler or something) to see if I'm running low on ressources so I can release the chunks currently unneeded
(The current implementation uses refcounting and releases immediately, but with normal user behavior I have tons of load/unload cycles that make the app seem sluggish (which it is not))
Now the question:
Ideas for the "garbage collect" point?
I thought of
a) Comparing the memory use of my app against the memory available in the system, and GC when either a certain ratio is exceeded, or the remaining space runs low
b) trying to allocate a big chunk in the idle handler, if this fails, I GC
Suggestions how to do that? Better ideas?

I will go with a).
if you try to use method b) and if it did succeeds, windows may do lot of paging that will surely hit the performance.
