Hi there,
I've used the following code on my store page to determine if the current page is actually in the regsoft store or not, allowing the use of the same .js file for both uses:
<code>
function WriteBarLinkUnterminated(RelativeUrl)
{
StoreUrlCriteria = "regsoft";
CurrentUrl = "";
CurrentUrl = document.location.href;
if(CurrentUrl.search(StoreUrlCriteria) != -1)
{
// In store. Use absolute url.
AbsoluteUrl = "http://www.aephid.com/";
AbsoluteUrl += RelativeUrl;
document.writeln("<a href = '" + AbsoluteUrl + "' target = '_top'>");
}
else
{
// Not in store.
document.writeln("<a href = '" + RelativeUrl + "' target = '_top'>");
}
}
</code>
However, I've recently found security errors popping up saying "Permission Denied". More research shows that this property is both deprecated, and also security rules no longer let you read it --- only change it!
see:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/workshop/author/om/xframe_scripting_security.asp
Does anyone know the proper way I can replace this block of code? I can't just use absolute urls because then I cannot navigate the website off the local hard drive and test it before it is deployed.
Please help!

Anyone have any suggestions for a search engine to use on a website? I have a site (designed with php, so no ASP search engines please), thats documentation section is quite large, and I frequently get questions from people about how to find stuff.

Yeah I have, but I was hoping folks here might have some first hand experience with one.
I have seen a bunch of junky looking stuff, with one or two possibbles that look useful.

Are you talking about people that use google for their search engine on their site or just junky search engines they have developed? I currently use google for my site ( DeveloperNotes.com[^]) and it's rather simple, just set up an account with google and you can even get your banner logo added to the top of your search results page; all for free.

Yeah we looked into using google. The problem is that doesn't give as many hits as we'd like, plus we'd like to be able to control the presentation a bit more.
I was referring to junk search engines that people develop, not google.
The deal is that I would like to present a search page to search through source generated (via doxygen) documentation that spans over 1,800 html files (almost 28 megs).

Does anyone have any info on using web services with Classic ASP? (ASP3.0) I'm about to go for a hunt on the web to see what I can find out, but if anyone can point me to a good start, that would be appreciated.

Great source, Paul. I also like www.w3schools.com[^] for excellent tutorials.

Hi,
I have been using data binding for a lot of features and it is kind of working, but I keep getting into the chicken and the egg situation; I initialise the dataset in Page_Load, but, for example with a databound combo box, its selection resets when the page loads. This shouldn't happen because I have set the "AutoPostBack" property to true, if I temporily take out the dataset initialisation code then the combo box works fine, but of course with no data in it.
Would anybody be able to point me in the right direction please?
Regards,

maybe you need to use
if (!Page.IsPostBack) {
}
in your Page_Load

I've got a textbox in which I don't want the user to be able to use the backspace button. How can I cancel? I tried the event.cancelBubble but it doesn't seem to work.
Please help.

I can't see how cancelBubble would help you do this.
What would I do:
I would store the value of the text field in a variable, then, onChange I would compare the new value with the old one. With the correct logic I would return true or false and would allow the new value or replace it with the old one.
Hope that this helps.

Hi,
When selecting an image (within the code) using: MyImage.ImageURL = "test.jpg", the image is stretched within the image control, is there a way to make the image control automatically change to the images size?
And another image related question, how can you obtain the images dimensions?

Don't specify a width or height in the IMG tag

I imagine the same way you would access the SRC attribute
document.blah.myImage.width
blah is not actually an object, you'll have to figure that out.

Does anybody know how to fill the fields of IE's web page
from within VB or C++ ? What if the page is secure? Of
course, there is no problem to fill all the fields by
hand. The question is how to do it automatically, by
running .exe or .dll.

Wrong forum
You mean like Google toolbar auto form fill feature?
It's generally more difficult then writting a normal EXE I suggest looking at the following article for a heads up:
http://www.codeproject.com/atl/ietoolbartutorial.asp?target=ie%7Ctoolbar[^]
I imagine you might be able to do it with a normal EXE, but you would have to tap into the IWebBrowser2 interface, so I hope your comfortable with COM interfaces
Cheers

I think your in the wrong forum too
Anyways
innerHTML will replace all HTML inside the current element and outerHTML will replace all HTML inside the current element including itself.
So...
If you replace the innerHTML of the following DIV with nothing
<div>
<b>This is innerHTML</b>
<div/>
You get
<div>
nothing
<div/>
Whereas outerHTML would do the following
nothing
HTH
