I voted an incorrect number, and wished I could've recalled it. My suggestion is (in the form of a question), "If the person cannot correct an incorrect vote, how about his/her ability to nullify the vote?" IOW, he/she cannot vote a second time for the same article, but at least he/she would have the ability to correct the error made (in a way). William Fortes in fide et opere!
