Hallo,
currently I am working on an application with a status bar. For the displayed text it uses strings from a resource string table in the project file by using the "SetIndicators" function.

Unfortunately these constant strings are in German and it is my task to make the application able to change languages dynamically. How do I change the texts displayed by the status bar without reprogramming the entire control?

Are You using some Third Party Lib ?

It happened to me When i was programming Dialogic Boards as it turned out the SDK was Buggy

Two reasons I can think of. One is common, another is more rare.

The common reason is that you haven't actually posted a quit message to the thread, so the thread is blocked waiting for a message that will never arise. This is more common in Win32 SDK programs. You should PostQuitMessage in response to a WM_NCDESTROY message. If using MFC, it should have done this for you, unless you've overloaded PostNcDestroy and not called the base class, IIRC.

The rare reason is that something has deadlocked in DllMain. You can get this problem if you try to wait for an object in DllMain, or sometimes if you release a COM object in a static object's destructor. Check the rules for DllMain. Destructors for static objects run in the scope of DllMain for static objects in DLLs.

hi!...
i have two view-drived class in my app.
and i use these two views on either pane of my splitted-window SDI app.
i have a treeCtrl on one view and a property sheet (tab view) on other view pane.
i would like to change tab pages when i chose a treeCtrl item.

how will i handle 2. view handle and set the right tab page?

how is that possible to pass data between two classes that are not child of the same parent in the same application?

is there an easy step to get handles of whatever window, child, controls in an application (SDI or Dialog based?)

Hi All,

I want to know whether there is any limit on number of lines i write in any c or c++ program.
Is there any limit after which if i compile program compiler will give me fatal error.
If i get any links related to Compiler limitations regarding program length limitations etc will be helpful.

humm, dont know but i do remember when i used to program in Turbo C and i didnt know much about modularising of code, all the code was in one .c file one day the compiler cried about it being too long.

but i guess its all compiler dependend, and may be memory dependend also.

Create a New SDI Application Using the MFC Wizard and select Both Active Document Server and Container (Only Container will do if you just want to host)

Complie and Run the Application as it is

goto Edit and Insert Object and you can insert Doc or XLS file

This is a start then you can go about exploring the Workings

By default, winword opens files, i want to change the functionality of this process. Can I pass my data(buffer) to Word process so that when word opens the file,It will show my data

While playing around with CSpinButtonCtrl I inadvertantly created a monster. Because I created the controls in the wrong order the spinner was updating the wrong item in the dialog. There is no obvious way to change it, either. While searching for the identifier for the control I somehow managed to open the .rc file that defines the dialog layout for text editing. A couple of clicks and shuffles fixed everything nicely, but I can't figure out any way to open this file for text editing directly. Is there an easy way to do so, just in case I screw up again (as I'm sure I will)?

you want to open the .rc file for text editing?

if so,
1) right click on the RC file in the file view, and select: "open with.."
2) then select the option you wish to open it as.

Note: if you have the .rc file already opened in the resource editor it will ask you to close it.

That's what I expected, but there is no "Open with..." option in the context menu. I also checked the project settings to look for various things like "set default resource editor" but there are no such options there.

'Open with' exists in vc7 not vc6

The only way I know it works is this:
Menu/Edit/Find in Files
Find What:
I use a dot because it almost always there or
the words like: main, bmp, ico, etc
worse case use a text editor to know what is written in there

Files types: *.rc

Most of the times Visual Studio will tell you that it is Already open with another resource editor. Close it ?
Answer yes ( after saving wanted changes )

Click File->Open, browse & select the .rc file. In the Open as combo box, select Text. Voilà!

A faster alternative is to use WndTabs[^] and assign a hotkey to their "Open as text" command (I use Ctrl+Alt+Shift+T). Then when you are viewing any resource, use that command and it'll open the .rc file as text.

I have CDialog based program..

The CDialog class has a member object derived from a custom class..

but in the CCustomClass code i also have a member of type CMyDialog...

the problem is with this scenario, when i compile the the CDialog derived-class, i get an error saying that it can't recognize the CCustomClass class.. when in fact i have successfuly compiled the CCustomClass and wrote an include directive for the CCustom class (#include <customclass.h>)....

when i remove the member variable m_pDialog in CCustomClass.. the program compiles with no errors... when i put it back again, the error appears again... what seems to be the problem here?
