i recently learned though do not recall where of a new feature in Visual Studio i.e. whilst hovering over multiple row of tabs one can scroll wheel them away up/return down . i enabled or installed this feature i do not recall which however upon repair of Visual Studio the feature disappeared along with all the previously installed extensions . i have since re-installed the extensions however i seek your kind assistance in learning how to enable/install this handy feature . the MS VS page re/ tabs was not helpful . thank you kindly .

It depends on which version of VS you're talking about. Multiple rows of tabs was introduced in VS2022. Before that, it can be handled by a 3rd party extension.
If in VS2022, you can go to the Tools menu and click Options. In the dialog that shows up, in the search box in the top left corner, type Tab. In the results on the left, click "Tabs and Windows". On the right, you'll see the option for "Show tabs in multiple rows". Enable that and click OK.
If you do not see that option, you'll have to use a 3rd party extension. The problem with that is only YOU are going to know which extension that was because there's a few of them that can provide that functionality. How you install and enable that is up to the vendor that wrote the extension.

I thought of CONTRACT but the clue stated the answer was 7 characters long whereas CONTRACT has 8. I also thought of CONDUCT but that didn't fit the definition. Did the character count shrink too? 
After that I tried shrinking the word AGAINST and combining to some synonym of MAJOR to define passage. 
In any event, I'm counting my effort today as a win.
