It appears carbon fiber material are/or cannot be tested for flaws and wear
the same way metal hulls can.

Got it - we buy Maple Syrup directly from the producers in New Hampshire.

Birch is used in a similar fashion to Maple. I'm pretty sure there are others that are used in cooking.
