the city: the center of a crumbling empire

long past the centuries it ruled the world,

but, still a beehive of commerce and trade


the city: new layers, over layers of ruins 

over forgotten foundations; flimsy bridges, 

broken shrines, mobs of homeless wanderers


now, destiny decides to build a new future,

to abandon the old city, give flesh to the

new vision, that will resurrect the empire


the need for complex faciliites in the old

city, for roots to keep commerce and trade 

flowing: the new vision hit history's wall


bedrock had to be breached: hard, as usual;

grandiose idealism devoured time, as usual
