There was this video of a white guy wearing a Mexican sombrero and one of those scarf like things.

Is there a reason for me to port this into SFX? It's MIT licensed like my stuff is, but the engineer in me is screaming at the creative part of me, and I'm afraid dishes are going to get smashed.
To satisfy the engineer in me I'm hoping I can come up with some use cases for running soundfonts on IoT
1. To play MIDI ringtones. (My library already does MIDI, but has no audible sound for it - rather exports midi data to external devices)
2. ???????
3. Profit!
Seriously though, is this even a good idea? I mean aside from enabling you to use MIDI files as part of your UI I can't think of a great reason to do this.
So why do I want to do it so badly? I think there's a consistency to being able to "link" the midi portions of my library to the audio portion of my library by way of soundfonts. That way you can route your MIDI stuff through the audio portions and have it produce something meaningful. Right now, they don't talk at all. They're completely distinct components and I almost made them two separate libraries.
I know there are some people who mess with MIDI here. I know some of you know what soundfonts are.
Can you think of good reasons to play them on IoT widgets? Particularly backed by a MIDI engine?

I have no idea what you're talking about but I'll respond as if I do anyway...
Several years ago I wrote an application (WinForms) which allowed users (supervisors in a call center) to view what was going on in a back-end system I wrote. At times, the system would run into a problem it couldn't handle and would need to alert the supervisors so they could deal with it. At first, I had a simple "ding" (Console.Beep), but I decided that that "wasn't good enough" in a noisy call center. So I wrote classes which would allow the user to write an XML file containing a sequence of notes for the application to play as an alert tune. I then had my copy play a pleasant "ding dong" -- which is twice as good as a simple "ding".
But I didn't stop there! Most of what I had written was all Windows services and one of those services is a scheduler, so I wrote Westminster Chimes files for it to play on the server's internal speaker on the quarter-hour.
Can you do that with your doohickey?

If I implemented this it would be easy to do. I'm currently prototyping on a PC using a 3/4MB midi soundfont and a few MIDI files.

I'm not trying to improve on it. I was considering porting it to run on IoT, but I probably won't now, after reflecting on it for a day, and also examining how the code works, in the context of the bottlenecks I'd face on IoT.

So, I have this Winforms ClickOnce prog that only I use but it gets used weekly for the last 10 years. I needed to make a couple of minor changes before then manually updating on the only 2 PCs that it will ever run on.
Now, as I couldn't remember what folder the current version was installed from, I decided to uninstall then do a fresh install - otherwise it would throw an error and tell me it must be updated from the original install folder. However, despite it having a nice shiny icon on my desktop, and the program working, it does not appear on Win 11's list of Installed Apps, so I couldn't uninstall it without having to get "involved" in things.
So, I turned off assembly signing then published and lo and behold, it then installed, on both machines, from a different folder to the original install folder. Both versions of the prog are available to use, should I need to revert back e.g. if I discover I have made a boo-boo in the new version.
Obviously not suitable for any "real world" software, but for something for personal use only, makes life a bit easier. Now just wondering why Win 11 shows some of my homemade apps in its list but not others ...
