I'm concurrently learning Python and Tkinter... well, it really 'looks like' Tkinter has been modeled after VB6 and Windows controls.
Reading the Tkinter manual truly brings me back to the earyl 2000s, when I was very young and teaching myself VB6 on a McGrawHill book and experimenting on a VB6 copy I received as a gift from a friend of my dad.
Needless to say, I'm impressed so far on how the mechanics are exceptionally similar and how they managed to blend the whole system with Python's own language features, like dictionaries, named arguments and integrated support for lists everywhere.
EDIT: It even has its own DoEvents! How cute! Next you will tell me that it has its own On Error Resume Next...

It is a long time since I worked on TCL/Tk, but I found tkinter less difficult than I expected. The main problem I find is the quality of the online documentation. The best I could find is at Tkinter 8.5 reference: a GUI for Python[^].

Personally I chose Tkinter for a very simple reason: it's bundled. No additional libs, no runtimes, no external tools needed.

A pity that most Python GUI frameworks have no forms designer, so I would not say that: Python + Tkinter = VB7

It's the only missing tool, though to be honest after a while the forms designer became jsut a repository of elements to be resized / positioned via code. Manually.
Yes it has a steeper learning curve than VB6, but in a world dominated by CSS and HTML+Javashcript new devs are used to manually specify columns, divs and whatsnot.

I've upgraded my laptop to Windows 11 as the office guinea pig - all is going well and nothing has broken with the Adobe Suite, AutoDesk Suite, or any other software used by my coworkers for productive work. I tried to run windows update a week after upgrading, and it's not working. So... I went to the windows update catalog site and something is definitely wrong there.
The SSL certificate is for a site "*.hs.llnwd.net" - very strange for a mega-global-corporation to screw that up. Right? Anyway, I paused updates for a week out of an abundance of caution.

So I was initially happy with the build quality of CUKUSA's machines given the price.
But now that I've gutted the old case, I found out half the fans were dead after a year (I have two long haired cats, in CUK's defense)
That and their cabling was cheap.
Anyway, I just got a thermaltake case. I wouldn't buy it again, but I'm stuck with it now. It doesn't cool as well as I'd like because of the way it was designed, but the mobo sits FLAT like God/FSM intended.

I have this CUKUSA
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900 CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.10 GHz
Installed RAM 64.0 GB
Intel UHD Graphics 630
Windows 10 pro.
No heat problems, yet, but graphics hardware will freeze at times especially
when using google maps or any maps. You have turn power off to recover.
But it was affordable and runs 431 gigaflops using Qwikmark 0.4 freeware benchmark.
Not totally scientific but it is a benchmark.
I wanted a number cruncher and I got that. Been using it about a year.

Check your fans. Make sure they aren't dead.
My machine otherwise has been mostly fine, although I've now replaced the case and the power supply (they weren't damaged, just inadequate for a 2080TI GPU. That's somewhat disappointing, at least in terms of the case. It was a tower. It should have been enough. But the case was poorly designed for holding a large video card, despite being a large case.

I have a mini desktop (6" x 6" x 3") @ 300 watts with only 2 fans. The case fan speed can be adjusted in BIOS. The CPU fan is what it is. I can check op temps in bios, but no other way to determine if it's functioning.
The case fan is clearly in view without opening the case. So far all is nominal. I know I create more heat with my number crunching programs. Fan speed picks up then.
I too have spare fans. BTW if you mount a case fan or power supply fan in front a bigger fan or outside in wind, the fan becomes a DC generator (at least the ones I have). The original power line to fan become the wires you use as a small DC source.
