Seems a bit harsh. It's an open-source project, it's not trying to upsell to a paid version, and the request for contributions is unobtrusive.

I reported the article but since the project is open source, MIT licensed and the author has been around for quite a time I'd give him the benefit of doubt...

At least one who at least gives a hint/warning also to the author

I'm willing to see if the author will consider posting an Article, not a Project, without links. We shall see. As a Project their post will be updated automatically to include all the donation links even if we remove them.
