C++20 has the most academic crap in it. And no networking. Then there's the idiocy of strings (they rushed a bunch of changes without thinking of the ramifications.) It's almost like most on the committees aren't actually working developers.

The dark theme looks nice, and multi level undo is also handy.

For such things you have a bunch of apps / editors.
I have always used the notepad for:
- being sure I can open the file in ALL computers I came to work with.
- being sure that what is written, is actually written (unicode letters hacks, malware links and similars)
- being sure that the text I move between apps is totally neutral and has no "hidden" format with it
All other "smarter" editors have failed sooner or later in any of those points, Notepad never failed me in this way. From now on... forget it.

It still is a bog simple text editor. They updated it's UI to the current theme (not a critical issue, but the mix of new and old theme applications always looks and functions at least a bit like 💩), added dark mode (arguably also part of a modern theme), updated to the W11 standard font picker (arguably also part of a modern theme), and made some minor quality of life changes like multiple undo. It's still notepad, not a Notepad++/Atom/VsCode competitor.

One of my old coworkers (Jeff Miller) tried to update/modernize notepad almost a decade ago but it caused a huge internal company debate. Even one of the company VP got involved. He barely made it out of that situation with his job.
