Is it not possible here to put html markeup inside <pre%gt; tags?

I have some in my latest article so I can highlight added code, and it's not really working out very well. When I do it on my local box in vis studio, it doesn't complain, so it's valid html, but CodProject's auto-fixing html nazi AI appears to strip it out.

The best (and only way, really) to highlight inside a PRE code block is to use the a span tag with one of the following classes: highlight, emphasis, no-color, no-colour, subdue

So:

HTML

<pre lang="C#">
// This is a comment
<span class="highlight">var s = "and this is a highlighted line";</span>
</pre>

becomes

C#"

// This is a comment
var s = "and this is a highlighted line";

I edited the article, but I had to replace the entire text because the editor wouldn't let me edit in source mode without mangling the text. It's hard to explain what was happening. You actually have to see it.

Does anyone else have trouble downloading the source from this tip:

WPF with PRISM - View and ViewModel First Implementation with Unity IoC

Packets come in fits and starts for me, stopping entirely just under halfway through.

Oddly, downloads from other tips/articles download just fine. It's only this one that's giving me trouble.

That one has all the makings of a great story, and it's an enjoyable read, but alas the problem persists. An important clue is found in the fact that other CP downloads go off without a hitch. It's only this one that's giving a problem.

I was able yesterday to get the file via a different ISP's network and then transfer it from my friend's computer to mine. But even then the download was slow and erratic.

Also: I can't connect to the CP web server at all via another network that's owned by my ISP. The main landing page doesn't even load, and the connection attempt times out.

So there's something strange going on here. I don't know how to reach someone at CP to discuss this, if it's possible.

Hey Jeff,

Can you trying doing a tracert www.codeproject.com to see where the bottleneck is? (only worry about the nodes up until peer1. Everything after that will timeout on purpose)

This is from my ISP's network that can reach your server but can't download the file. I called them to discuss their other network that can't reach your server at all, and the tech asked me to bypass the WatchGuard router there, temporarily plug a laptop directly into their switch and manually assign an IP from the range they've allocated. If after that I still can't connect, he suggested the possibility that you may be blocking a range of IPs that includes their range.

Do you have a way to check on this?

In any case, I won't be able to make it over there for such a test for another day or so.

We can't test anything downstream. My guess: someone or something is blocking us.

Do you have any ad blockers installed (or uBlock?) They play absolute havoc with sites.
