I don't know about current UK TV programs, but The Boss and I like to watch older British shows on Amazon TV and Britbox. US TV just has to many brainless, rubbish shows to our liking. We stream the British shows, so we don't even need cable to watch.

Having been in both the UK and the US several times, I have to say that UK TV beats US by a lot.
This is obviously an opinion which might not be shared by everyone, but the godawful amount of commercials every few minutes would make the difference if nothing else does.

UK TV is fast catching up in all areas. Even though the BBC channels do not have commercials, much of their output these days is "opium for the masses".

Everyone wears a mask when at a store, unless they have a medical condition that prevents that. Outdoors, it varies - if people are talking close together or are in a crowded outdoor area, they probably are, otherwise some people don't, especially when they are alone and certainly more than 6 feet separated. Some people do wear masks, even if they are taking a walk in the woods with their SO. I see people wearing masks while driving alone in their car.

Me personally, absolutely not. However, I am not an anti-vaxxer and respect those who do get the vaccine and can certainly understand the reasons. Enough said on that matter.

Generally people in Toronto wear masks. We don't want to (except when it's -stupid degrees outside, in which case they are great!) but we do and there's no griping or complaining. You wear yours, I'll wear mine, and if I have it and keep my distance (which everyone also seems good at) then maybe I've lowered your risk of getting it, and vice versa.
It's pretty much a non-issue here, except for the occasional person who feels the need to make a point or who doesn't want to be "told" what to do. Canada's actually funny like that: no one's "told" to things, but everyone is expected to do the right thing. And generally Canadians do.

Anyway since you asked. Iowa/Midwest. We pretty much do a fairly decent job of wearing a mask. Depending upon where you go. Get a ways away from a city and nope not so good. The more people around the more likely you will find the percentage of people wearing a mask to be higher.
I would say 100% in my small town at the grocery store are wearing a mask. But we aren't far from Des Moines sooo.....
AS for the shot. PErsonally I have a needle phobia. (stupid I know, But I do pass out frequently from getting needles stuck in me) So I would rather not. Not because it doesn't work, not because I don't believe in vaccinations(I do believe in them). Mostly just because I hate falling down and going boom.
That being said I will probably get the shot and just warn the person. oh well. Life.

I even got a Flu Shot for perhaps the first time, or at least in memory.

In a similar thread I said: "it is like software, I prefer to wait until SP1"
Until I am in the "next" group, it is going to be a (probably) big while, as I am a mid-aged healthy white man without any "system-relevant" profession. I suppose I will get the possibility in the 4th or 5th wave at soonest. Which already brings a couple of million shots worldwide before I get mine.

I started a couple years ago and I haven't had it, but it is always that paradox that you don't know if you would have had it if not vaccinated. My wife was vaccinated too and got it twice since I started. That's why I don't complain and continue doing it

I've been struggling to debug my JSON pull parser ever since I traded away line and column counting for a significant performance opportunity. I regret nothing. NOTHING!
And yet, all I get now for my location in the document is a cryptic offset of characters from the beginning of the stream/file/connection/whatever. Basically, a position property.
So i've been trying to track the progress of my reader while it's doing automated extractions. The reader's path through the document can get really complicated and hard to follow. That's fine, when it works, but it's still got a few problems.
So how the heck do I debug this without my line and column counting?

Greetings While testing some of the C++ std::filesystem functions on a PC with a small simple console program the executable froze and the video monitor began beeping whenever I clicked on or moved the wireless mouse. I of course have no idea as to the real cause of this strange mouse/video monitor phenomena. Running the code again after a necessary reboot as the response was also very sluggish did not duplicate the mouse\video monitor phenomena. Any ideas? Thank You Cheerios

Impossible to guess. It could be something in your code, which means using the debugger. It could be some arbitrary program using the resources of the PC. It could be a hardware problem. Bottom line is that you need to gather much more information.

How reliable is that PC's power supply?

If you get unreproducable problems like this, if they're not very frequent it might be a failing power supply, as that has happened to me more than once.
Other than that - if it fails again
bad ram?
bad cpu?
run a burn in tool like Prime95 on the machine to see if you can't reproduce the problem
