No I'm not starting with Linux, I'm not that ****** yet.
But the reason for my problems earlier[^] is spelled, Office 365.
Apparently when my company got Office 365 they also made a trust between our domain and Azure AD, which, Surprise, made a copy of our AD.
So when my new computer was "joined to the domain" it wasn't.
It was joined to the Azure AD, which is playing all possible unwanted tricks on your computer.
Solution was to remove the AD Domain (Under Settings/Accounts/Access work or school), then join the Real Domain Properly, and add office 365 again.
It's been pointed out to me that you can avoid this crap also if you don't have a domain. Here[^]
Haven't tested myself though.
I wonder how much more garbage that has been forced on, to what actually is a great OS, from the morons of the Office division.

I keep finding that office 2003 was the pinnacle of office version.

I concur. No need to update any further - any further "improvements" just messed it up for normal use.
When I write a book, or even a letter/document or whatever, i don't need any more than is provided with 2003.

Trouble is they generally market the latest version so hard that someone will get it. Then their suppliers have to get it so they can read the damn documents, and their suppliers, and ...
Eventually everyone has to because every document they get is in a later format and can't be handled unless they "upgrade".
I'd still be using Ami Pro if I had the option ...

That can be an issue - but for Office 2000/2003 they (used to ?) offer a compatibility pack, which can open the 2007 format files (and for some programs, save in them). I only switched to Off 2010 because Outlook 2000 didn't cope well with IMAP and Gmail. I doubt I'll ever move on beyond the 2010 version.

Seconded, although I did upgrade to 2010. I'm certain I didn't use anything that wasn't in the 2003 version, and I definitely missed the menus.
