Hi,

I started having trouble with the screen randomly showing fuzzy grayish blue "TV noise" on the entire screen. After a random period of time, usually a minute or so, the screen will revert to normal.
Screen artifacts might be a sign of overheating. Windows 10 is GPU accelerated which means you may have overheating problems on the older Dell laptops with insufficient cooling. Check out these registry keys for disabling some of the GPU hardware acceleration:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics\DisableHWAcceleration
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers\HwSchMode
Windows Defender is also GPU accelerated and can cause overheating on the older laptops. Some of the older laptops use a single heatsink for both the GPU and CPU. You can ask Windows Defender to limit it's CPU usage to help mitigate overheating.
Set-MpPreference -ScanAvgCPULoadFactor 5
I had to do this on my older Dell laptop after upgrading it to Windows 10... and the GPU still died.

Best Wishes,
-David Delaune
