I used to work in embedded for automotive. I had one of these : I once drove over it (left it on the ground behind of the test car, and drove backwards wondering where I put my laptop until *Bump*), and I once dropped it in the stairs, second floor. Survived both events  . The only painful thing was to go through airport security : "Bring out your lapto...wowowow sir, what is this ? Put it down and step back".

Last November, I bought 5 boxes of 100 each latex disposable gloves (I get them cheaper that way, and I normally use them for cleaning up cat puke / poo; handling chillies, raw meat, that kind of thing.
Of course, with Covid I've been getting through them a lot more quickly than normal - so I've opened the last box to replace the one in the car and looking to order more.
Last November, they were £24.98 incl.
Today, same supplier, same product, same delivery, 0% VAT instead of 20% (as they are PPE they have a special VAT rate for a few months): £45.98!
And all the other suppliers appear to be the same.
I think that someone is extracting the urine myself.

Sorry, but unless you're a doctor, you're probably overdoing it and that'll work against you in the long run. George Carlin makes a great point in one of his skits. Look up his name + "swimming in raw sewage" on YouTube.

500 pairs of gloves...or even individual gloves...would last me a lifetime.
But then, I don't deal with cat poo, and if I can't tolerate chilies on my skin, how should I expect to tolerate them inside my mouth...

That's 500 individual gloves, not pairs.
I'd normally expect them to last me a year or possibly two - but by buying them in bulk I get them about half price so it's worth it. It also means I have a "safe cue" to order more - open the last box and I have plenty of time.

The contractors did the same around here after Hurricane Sandy. Literally tens of thousands of people without homes (in my city, alone). A job quoted initially for US$ 5500 (heater/hot water/labor) turned into $US $7500 . . . at the low end of estimate. It is generally agreed that the contractors, particularly plumbers, but also carpenters and electricians, earned enough in that period to retire wealthy(er). One bright note: a friend recommended an electrician who did his work for the norm rate and the counter tops were also fair, as well (although Formica would have cost as much as granite - so I have granite). Interestingly, both of these two honest businesses did the very best work.
Interestingly, the state and county were looking for gasoline price gouging but never thought to go for the real criminals.
I have a long memory for these things - I won't forget who did what.

The Canadian government threw out some of their PPE stockpiles because it was past the "due date". And the rest they sent to China. The local companies can't step up because they're waiting for "permits" from the government who won't answer the phones. In the meantime, the government is throwing millions at anybody that says they're "working" on a vaccine, enriching their CEO's in the process ("bonuses").
War, and viruses, are good for business.
(Note: you're NOT a "vaccine company" until you actually have a vaccine)
