Why the hell do devs need real time data, oh wait this is a hardware issue, you are missing a box. No amount of tweaking, backups, schema setups is going to help you if your company is too tight to get a dev box.

Power BI excels (see what I did there?) at importing data from various sources and working off of its own copy. The people (mis)using it need to learn how to do it correctly and not hit SQL on every freakin' mouse click.

My AV runs out at the end of the month, so I'm looking to renew it. And I find on Amazon that one supplier has three different delivery options:
"Frustration free" packaging, sent by Prime next day.
"Standard" packaging, sent by Prime next day.
"Activation code", sent by email.
Now, I'd expect the pricing to reflect that order: most expensive at the top, least expensive at the bottom.
But...

It's more expensive to sell me a an electronic code, shipped electronically, than to stock a physical item, and physically deliver it to me?

If you're running Windows, you don't need to pay for an AV program. Windows Defender is now rated as highly as the paid ones. I also run Malwarebytes Premium, which is a paid subscription. I've never had a problem, and on several occasions Malwarebytes has intercepted attempts to access websites that contain Trojans. A couple of those links were actually from would-be articles on this site.

Defender annoyed the heck out of me last time I used it: no matter how I configured it, it insisted on doing a full scan at 14:00 every damn day. So every afternoon, my computer moved like a stunned slug on Mogadon.
And I want it to cover PC and android devices: Herself is starting to use the internet (only Google News and the weather forecast so far, but ... baby steps) and I'd rather she didn't stumble into something nasty. Using the same software across all five devices (two Android and three PC) just makes my life easier, is all.

Similar to above, there is one more variation in prices. Respective websites would sell the AV's in almost more than double the prices that are there on e-commerce sites like Amazon.

Unless there are legal restrictions on the maximum price, it's not illegal to sell something at higher than the going rate. It's up to you to ensure that you are actually getting the lowest price.

I understand that but AV original website selling it for lets say $15-20 for 1 user-1 system and the same specifications on Amazon would be around $5-7.
Now, are we talking there are few who wants to sell with way less profit here?

Maybe Amazon are using it as a loss leader.
The idea is that they tempt you into the store with an amazing price on product A, but once you are in the store, you remember that you also need B, C, and D. They make up their loss by selling you B, C, and D at above-market prices.
Supermarkets do it all the time.

I understand it very well:
- The e-mail activation must include the retraining costs of the dunce that actually sends the e-mail. He/she/it/... needs retraining at the start of every day, and after every lunch, coffee, or smoking break.
- The standard packaging (probably one of those hard plastic shells that have to be opened with a machete) costs more to manufacture than the frustration-free packaging.

In a way, it reminds me of the way concert tickets are sold. If I order them online and pick them up at the will-call window (which requires human intervention), they're just the face value of the ticket. If I opt to print them at home, on my printer using my paper, they're $$ more.
