Missing option 1: I think this is a dumb survey / None of the Above.
Missing option 2: I attempt to alert whoever is responsible for the terminal so they can deal with the Problem.
Missing option 3: I hate surveys with no clear purpose.

I think we should give an honest answer. As a programmer, I will never touch it and will inform someone, or maybe it's not about being a programmer and is just being me.
but if being a programmer made me do that the problem with lack of security in many programs is people like me thinking that others will do the same.

I left my front door open by mistake, do you:
1. Stick your head inside and look around
2. Go into my house and look around, but no touching
3. Do some shopping for some nice "free" stuff
4. Look if I'm around, shout my name into the house, and if you can't find me close the door
5. Back away
If you chose 1 you'll probably get away with it, but people may think you're a weirdo looking through other people's stuff.
If you chose 2 or 3 you'd better get a lawyer.
If you chose 4 or 5 we can be friends.
Bottom line, just because you can doesn't mean you should.

When I was a teenager I was into tech before the world was on to tech, and there were all kinds of panels to things like reader boards, or even dialins to cell phone dealer activation networks that i came across.
I took advantage. Ain't gonna lie. Learned a lot too, like how careless people are until the have a reason not to be.
But then I grew up, and as Paul said I put away childish things. I don't regret the fortunes of a "misspent" youth, even for the trouble i caused. I think kids are meant for a little trouble, at least - it rounds them out. And like I said, I learned some stuff.
But I'm not endorsing the activities either, especially these days where you are as liable as not to be charged as a "terrorist" in my country for engaging in some hacking.
This isn't the world I grew up in.  But I guess a lot of people of any generation feel that way.

When I worked for Dept of Energy, I used to hack their VAX cluster. Our computer security officer loved what was being done - even presented some at a conference and wangled a trip for several of us into NSA (only one little part, their tiger team, and after answering a questioner prior to the visit).
For about six months I had full SA privileges on our system and the IT people didn't even notice.
But - as you said - times have changed. Chemicals I used to buy as a kid would now get me a knock on the door . . .

I've done this before with the Bart machines here in San Francisco, which run Windows 2000 Professional. Saw one technician rebooting a system, and also took a picture of another machine that had a BSOD displayed
