They have to set this (but the "good" news is that you can set to "only" 3 months).

To me, there is not much difference between "information" and "information marked as deleted". It is still information.

I don't think they are going to actually delete data. At least not as long as they can have some usage for it, another thing is obsolete or really irrelevant data. That's something they will probably delete gladly to (as Kent said above) reduce the amount to deal with and to try to look a bit "less evil"

Wen asked several times for a quick and easy way to install the most useful extensions, I said “sure, I’ll make an extension pack”. Because Visual Studio is never big enough

This new extension pack has two requirements:
Must only contain extensions relevant to all developers(Emphasis added)
Seems if that's the criteria, Visual Studio would have it. And thank goodness he included icons!

I can't remember the last time I created a file that it didn't make sense to go through the new file wizard for, or that wasn't created elsewhere and drag/dropped in. Not worth bloating context menus even farther for something I might use a few times/year.

Actually this is the first one I installed, it has a icons for a few file types I occasionally use that VS doesn't.
For 2-3 times/year, going to my browser is a small price to pay for less UI bloat.
Could be useful, second one I installed.

I suppose in the US is the same or even worse, but I am only to speak about Germany.
Working for Company A in Munich for let's say 5000€ a month... and working for the same company remotely from let's say Gunzenhausen with 4000€ a month... I think I would get the second option.
Some cities are just damned expensive and 50% or 60% of the salary is gone in fixed costs.
Living anywhere else might get that % reduced drastically. So depending on how big the cut is and where you live, you might finish the month with more money in your account.

Brilliant. So companies can save money by reducing office space, remote workers tend to work longer hours (this is based on a survey of one, namely me, but anecdotally from my coworkers as well) and sick employees that can work remotely often work at home while under the weather...
...and we get a pay cut.

I worked for a company that had localized salaries, although they never really made up for the cost of living in truly expensive locations.
But if people can choose to work remotely, where they live is up to them, so salaries shouldn't be adjusted for location. This is one of the most asinine pay-related things I've seen. Then again, FB are probably so constipated that their employees won't be working remotely.

Probably just like on Windows: not much will outright break, but everything will grind to a slow crawl as Defender decides it needs 87% of your compute resources for several minutes at a time
