Well, the usurpated/tweaked domain name, the LetsEncrypt certificate, and the "We will only use this number for order updates as our emails may get blocked by your service provider!"; all of this seems really suspect.

I'd say it looks dodgy, but ... Scamadvisor[^] and Trustpilot[^] seem to disagree - and the site has been going for over three years according to whois data.

Even worse when I got to the Microsoft store after the install I noticed I had already bought and not used a copy from a couple of years ago - what are the chances of a refund ?

Microsoft doesn't use ".org". A store link looks more like:

Do need to add that some of these sites are "legit".
The "download" is for a "unactivated" Windows 10 (or such) from Microsoft; what you get from them is a "1 user" key that will allow you to activate said software. The "key" might have been in use before but was "detached" from the original machine and is now available for a "new" machine and associated software. These outfits then are in effect, resellers of "old" keys. I've bought software this way before, downloading from Microsoft, and using "their" activation with the purchased key and saved "hundreds". No issues running / updating. You need to "vet" them of course, which as you see, is tricky.
And that is why you also need to "detach" your MS software when moving to a new machines and can't just move your SSD. The "key" and machine become one from an MS accounting POV.

I've been playing Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn from GOG.com for the last week.
The original from 2000, not the newer Enhanced Edition.
GOG.com has their own launcher, GOG Galaxy 2.0.
When I start using the launcher it never works.
So I start it directly by opening BGMain.exe.
Sometimes it works right away.
Other times it hangs in the menu and goes into a small 800x600 box on the top left of my screen (not a window as I can't move or close it).
I still hear the music, but other than that it's unresponsive and I have to close it using the task manager.
The weird thing is, let's say I start it the first time and it does that as soon as I come into the main menu.
I start it a second time and it goes well, until I click something in the main menu and go into a sub menu.
Third time, same result.
Fourth time, it works.
It seems completely random 
I'd contact GOG.com about it, but having to restart a few times isn't worth the trouble.
I still very much wonder how computers can have such erratic behavior though.

Sounds like an initialization issue. When the program ran in its original environment, the problem didn't show up because the initialization "just happened" to work out a certain way or in a certain order. Now machines are an order or two of magnitude faster running in similarly expanded memory environments...
Wait a second.
Baldur's Gate was a 16-bit app (my daughter played it), which means it's running under some kind of emulation or in a VM. If you have any control over the VM environment, you might at what you can tweak.

So you're saying some part of the initialization finishes sooner than expected, like a race condition?
And whether or not it works depends completely on timing?
That could explain it.
I don't see an emulator starting.
This is BG 2 I'm talking about, not the original.
Although I've tried the original (also from GOG.com) and that works fine.
I understood, from some forums, that the original CDs can also still work on Windows 10.

It's concerning for the airline industry that the virus could significantly change people's travel behavior. But what's truly concerning is that a staggering number of currency units are being conjured to bail out these kinds of businesses. This dilutes everyone else and is an insidious form of taxation.
The way it's supposed to work, before all this bail-out idiocy started some time ago, is that firms go into bankruptcy. This is hardly the end of the world, because their skilled employees and capital infrastructure are still there. The firm typically continues to operate while being restructured. Someone buys it for a song, so the primary losers are shareholders and, usually to some degree, the bondholders.
A lot of the US airlines are now looking for bail-outs. These are the same idiots who ran up tons of debt to buy back their own shares during a market bubble, which did wonders for their executives' stock options and bonuses. Most of these sphincters deserve to be sacked, which is probably what would happen to them under a new board and new ownership.
