[Another one of my rants; it had been a while...]

Who ever thought making Macbooks out of aluminum must've chosen that based on the principle of form over function. Oh, wait, this is an Apple product - that is how things are chosen over there.

I have an old Macbook Pro laptop I've purchased second-hand years ago (I would never buy an Apple product brand new, but that's a discussion for another day). It's been sitting near the bottom of a small pile of laptops for a few months now, and I guess over that time period the weight of the laptops sitting on it has warped the lid enough that it had been pressing against the buttons below the trackpad. The system is now behaving as if the buttons were being constantly held down. When closed, it's obvious there's no clearance whatsoever between the lid and the buttons.

The MacBook itself had been sitting on top of another even older laptop, some cheap-ass Gateway made out of mostly plastic, and the weight has not bothered that one at all as far as I can tell.

Googling for "aluminum warped MacBook lid" shows that clearly, that's a thing.

I try not to get my deeply-set Apple prejudice get the best of me, but things like that keep cropping up. "Think Different" indeed. There's gotta be a good reason so few manufacturers build laptops out of aluminum.
