That depends. If they just live there and otherwise don't interact with you, it means that they regard you as a stranger who they can't get out of their territory at the moment. Hardly the basis for any honorary titles.

You'll get there - it's a "frame of mind" thing, and it can take a while to get the "feel" of how someone else's twisted mind works ... I have the same problem with new setters, there is a disconnect until you get inside their heads.
