I wish they'd published the brand of the device. I've yet to find an unbiased reliability test of USB drives, but this one pretty much seals it.

I've actually heard a "tinfoil-hat" idea about this: "It's a ploy by Microsoft to make their next Tay not go completely racist within seconds."
Another alternative was that Tay was turned off a few years ago, and Zo is very strictly told "not to use those words"! So all they're measuring is their own chatbots causing less offensive language than before.

How is this news? We've known about it for a couple of hundred years.

... And, even before computers existed, there were tables that were used to compensate for the drift -- which didn't even matter, back in the days of slow travel and less accurate maps -- so it hasn't ever been a problem.
Nowadays, with computer-assisted navigation, you don't even have to think about it, any more.

And what the National Post didn't say was that the FAA evaluates these changes every 5 years and will renumber the runways when they get too far off; I believe Eisenhower International in Wichita has been told they need to add 1 to all their numbers

Yup. I've worked on airport software, and it can get really confusing when all the identifiers for the runways are one off -- e.g. runway 19 (one-niner, or they moan) is the runway 20 (two-zero) you've been working on.
It can get really confusing at airports like Schiphol, which has about 937 runways (give or take 925), three of them aligned the same way, so you have L, R, an C versions to deal with, as well, where 18R is the other end of 36L (except in the code, where the numbers are one out).
