Looking at Latest Updates[^], I saw a checkbox "Project" at the article filters, that I hadn't seen before. After doing a search on this type, the page told me that there were no results.
That left me with the question, what is a "Project"? (How) can they be submitted?

Since it's possible nowadays to get more than 600 points at signup just by checking all the newsletters we've gotten a few side effects. One we noticed the day before yesterday.
Next one coming up is live hyperlinks and a biographies in the profile. It's only needed 500 points for those as well. And those are much harder to find.
And honestly I find it quite silly that you get silver level just by signing up.
I'd suggest shifting the levels one step up.
no status 0
bronze 100 -> 500
silver 500 -> 1500
gold 1500 -> 2500
platinum 2500 -> 5000
That way you still become something when you sign up for everything, but it doesn't get ridiculous.

You do need to subscribe to the newsletters to keep that silver status, and on signing up you are only awarded silver for participation. I hear you, but at this point I'd rather adjust levels required that rejig silver participation.

The important part is to stop the ability to post spam and links in the profile at signing up. How it's done is certainly less important.
That problem still isn't addressed, and it's only a question of time before they realize they can do that again.

My account under the username blizzerand was recently closed because some moderators reported the account. I don't understand the reason why it was closed. Can someone walk me through the procedure to get it back?

Unfortunately plagiarism is a growing problem on CodeProject. We've tried many things to tackle this issue. We've re-activated accounts of plagiarists and even worked with them to teach them what plagiarism is, and tried to work with them to get their articles in working order.
Experience has taught us this method does not work. A recurring theme with plagiarists is that they want their articles published, regardless of the cost. Publishing an article correctly on CodeProject, that is, publishing an article that aims to teach and exhaustively explains as much as possible about a subject or particular problem and its solution, is far more important than simply getting an article published. The focus should never on being published, the focus should be on using your own words and your own knowledge to help others.
Posting a piece of plagiarized material conflicts with CodeProject's purpose, and is hurtful to a community full of authors. As such, neither your article nor your account will be restored and this will be our last say on the matter.

I can only scroll a forum with the mouse wheel. This does not happen on other sites.
When I try to drag the scroll slider to the bottom of the window, the left column gets messed up, and the slider flashes, but cannot be dragged.

I might be wrong here, but I noticed that the spammers today all had more than 600 reputation points, which should not be possible if they just signed up today as far as I know.
But I've seen that when some people rejoin using an old email they recieve the old points connected to the previous account.
I believe this might be the loophole needing to be plugged.

You get 50 or 100 just for signing up to a newsletter. Pretty easy to get 600 off the bat.

Users with sufficient reputation no longer go through the spam checker. Yesterday they required 600 points to get past Silver status, so the spammers were signing up and doing enough "things" that they'd gain 600 points and then they could spam with impunity.
I updated this so members now require Gold status in order to avoid the spam checker.

Just thinking loud here, but is it possible to run ALL messages through the spam filter, but have different trigger levels above and below the threshold?
Those astrologer posts really should have triggered every bell in the country.
I can personally live with having an occasional post stuck in the filter.

In theory yes but it would be total guess work as to setting a ‘more relaxed’ threshold. We’re already trying to be relaxed as it is.

Make it inversely proportional(ish) to the rep points above say 1000 or so, while keeping it at 'right out bastard' below that.

You can't see anything in QA except "black magic" crap at the moment, and they are posting faster than we can remove the dross. The spam filter seems to be ignoring them as well, and it's had plenty of examples!
How about a "Protector" only report option: two protectors hit it and the account is closed or suspended and all posts, comments, messages, questions, and answers go to a "quarantine" for staff inspection? It would "clean up" the site quickly (and manually reporting 90+ QA questions for one user takes time) and that should discourage the idiots from posting at all.
Yesterday was a tester: "Can we get past the detector?".
Today would seem to be "payload day" - and the site looks like a New Age Drivel site because you can't see anything but astrology in QA ...

There are approx. 1200 spam messages at the moment in "Design and Architecture".
So yes, we need better tools if where gonna hold the line while the hamsters sleeps.
