$29 battery? Pfft. GTFO Apple. Hardly any capacity and not suited to high discharge rates - they're worth bugger all.
I can buy one that's 0.95 Ah (Admittedly, about 1/2 the capacity) that can be safely charged in 4 minutes and discharged in less than 1 - for 13 aussie dollars. High discharge and charge rates influence the price more than capacity.
Don't even get me started on the refusal to include a micro-sd card slot. I can buy one and have it shipped to my door from China for US $0.44 - just a postage stamp alone here costs AU $1
Apple. The company that just keeps on sucking.

Count me in. I simply refuse to buy any of their products, and will continue to do so. For a phone, I now have an LG V20, and find it far superior than anything else apple will offer at that price.
But there are people who will pay the 'premium' to buy inferior apple products, so then of course apple will sell it to them.

$29 would buy me a LiPo battery tough enough to start my 1MZFE based car.
Bought a very early 40GB iPod for about $800 a zillion years ago and to my shock and horror, the power supply was so poorly isolated that I could hear noise every s i n g l e time the damned thing did anything with the HDD. Sony walkmans from the 1980s were better. Sony minidisc players from the 90s murdered those horror shows from Crapple. Go to a runway if you want expensive fashion made by slave labour in China.

A few years ago my iPhone 4S started behaving strangely, resetting at random times, and battery indicator didn't seem reliable anymore after 3 years of use. I figured spending €35 on support might help me out. Reinstalled the thing, didn't help ofcourse. I decided that was the last time I made use of Apple support and to just order a new battery and install kit to see what it does, and presto, magically everything was fine again for another 2 years.
Eventually I used my iPhone 4S for 5+ years, and this year I upgraded to the iPhone SE. In 1-2 years, I'll replace the battery and I hope to be using this phone for about 5 years as well. Altogether it's not that expensive (calculating cost/year), but I agree Apple service and ethics are very poor.
