How does a compiler make a language superior to another?

One will probably never use most of the gcc/g++ compiler switches you mentioned, and the most common ones like -O[x] (optimization level), -W[x] (error level), -g (debug information) and -shared/static (dynamic link library/static library) are not hard to remember... I think you are better off comparing languages for a specific use case, instead of comparing them out-of-context. Smile | :)
