Well, the 50' of cable going from the pole across the street to the house...
...was missing!!!
Apparently some over-height truck must have come by and ripped the whole cable off, taking it with them. There certainly wasn't any cable lying around anywhere on the street!
Either that, or very large rodents with a hankering for plastic and copper.

In South Africa theft of copper cables is big business. No cables are exempt: Not high voltage transmission cables nor low voltage telephone cables. High voltage cables have a nasty habit to bite back when they attempt to harvest them: A few perpetrators were fried doing it. A friend of mine who lives in a rural community in the Cape Province regularly loses his Internet service for weeks on end, due to theft of telephone cables serving his community.

The video itself is hilarious. What was even better was that when this version of the video came out, a lot of people believed the subtitles were true. I can't remember what the first version was, but I don't think it was about Apple.
