While AFAIK it still requires the app to opt in Mad | a few Android versions ago Google required apps to start allowing users to decline individual permissions instead of having to agree to everything to run. If/when they make this mandatory it'd limit a lot of potential elephantery; OTOH I suspect most of the scumware would just bake in a legit reason to need the mic so even those who're savvy enough to read the permissions will have to bend over.

What we really need is a way to cut off frequency responses above a certain level. Set it at the 4 or 5 khz that IIRC landline phone systems used and you're still perfectly fine for voice chat; but have cut off the too high pitched for most people to hear part entirely.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
--Zachris Topelius

Training a telescope on one’s own belly button will only reveal lint. You like that? You go right on staring at it. I prefer looking at galaxies.
