The spammer is gone, but like a fart in a lift, two site-driving messages still linger:

EDIT: The messages are now gone, but I suspect there's a sock-puppet still lurking. Someone reported this message as "spam or abusive".

I've always wondered how I'm supposed to sign off on the only thing that would make a spammer go away, at this point by clicking the flag on his personals page and saying he's either abusive/troll or spammer; because all the indicators to the right are zero ("0"), which to me says a number of things but doesn't say anything about HOW he's a spammer.
Isn't this a perfect case of "nothing IS nothing"? That ambivalence about this kind of post is how I SHOULD feel?
So, clear-conscious-wise, I really have gotta just leave this as-is. And always do.

I can understand how you feel, but...
These are mostly "special cases" where the automated system has gone "Spammer!" and moved his post(s) to a special queue that only some people (who have the appropriate privileges) can see. The human element is important, because the automated system does make mistakes, and it's always up to a human whether a post is allowed or not. If the human agrees with the machine, that post is immediately deleted to make the spammers work useless. If not, the post is immediately let through.
We then report the user here - because it takes a lot more reports than one to delete a user, for good reason - and let the community have a hand in kicking him out.
In some cases, the spammer is manually detected, and reported here - but it takes more kicks to remove a member than it does to remove a post - so sometimes the message is gone but the user remains with a zero count.
We need a system: you would not believe just how much cr@p a dedicated spammer or team of spammers can generate in a very short time. Before the current system came in, we would get "spam waves" where nothing but spam was visible for hours, despite the very best efforts of all to delete them as quickly as possible.
So basically you have an option: trust the poster or not. If you do, report the spammer. If you don't, don't report him. If you feel a report is unfair, reply and give reasons. We can - and have - withdrawn reports and even reinstated members where the reporting was erroneous.

Well I explained where I found him/her, and why I think (s)he's a spammer. And it's not just the fact of this isolated message, but a general pattern that some of us have been seeing for the last few years. In my opinion this user is a definite spammer who posted a single message as a test after registering on the site. When the account is closed the user gets an email explaining why. Genuine users will come back and ask for an explanation; spammers will vanish like mist on a summer's day.
You may agree or not, as is your right.

You're right - it is definitely the "same" article. And the author on the original site does not look Chinese, but looking into him further, he seems to deal a lot with them, so he may be there. I think @sean-ewington should propbably take a peek.
