This just seems...awkward.

So that was...weird. The iPhone looks really nice. A nice evolution. It's the same phone, though. Water resistant, forget charging your phone while using headphones for handsfree, and an even bigger lump on the back. Better home button, faster and more battery life...but still the same phone. But nice.
Earpods - well, no, not really. I'd like to do a survey after 5 months and see how many people only have one of them left after losing one.
The watch? Again, it's the watch. Beautiful, but I'm not keen on square, thick lumps on my wrist. Still, I do think the Samsung Gear S is the best looking, Gru-style watch[^] ever, and I hate Samsung for hobbling it then killing it.
...and then an awkward music moment and a sudden "K, thanks, bye" and everyone just shuffles off.
No passion. No joy. No...direction? I just kind of feel a little lost and awkward after that. It's weird.

And that's why I referred to middle aged women.
Had it still been $1000 I would've referred to a certain group of middle aged men.
I would never be seen in public with one of those. If I was serious about it I'd buy a Garmin or a Polar watch and if I wanted it to be stylish I might take a look at a Withings or possibly a Mondaine.
But ALL I want from a watch is for it to tell me the time without breaking or having to charge it all the time. So at the moment I have a Tissot (since many years), but it could've been a watch from any of a dozen brands.

I can see the time on the watch, and I can see what music I'm playing on the phone because of the larger screen.
But using the phone for selecting music just wouldn't work for me.
(pause/play, forward and back I have on my headset cord ... Oh, I see)

No one can do a reality distortion field like Steve. It just rings hollow now. We didn't actually believe it back then, but it was fun to let ourselves be carried away for the hour and believe it.
Tim Cook is running a no-nonsense, grown up business and unfortunately for him that's how we all listen to him.

I'm actually very close to becoming an apple fanboy. Recently ported some android apps to iOS and they seem to run better on apple devices.

I have been disappointed with the Microsoft world of late.
I too feel Apple will continue to lead markets in future not in terms of volume but in terms of quality.

If the big news is Super Mario and Pokemon Go then I can skip buying the latest tech from Apple.
I still use my earbuds from the first iPod I got from 5-6 years ago. Good enough for audio books and podcasts.

I hope everybody will finally realize that their technology has never been so amazing, but was only expensively sold quality hardware marketed by a ... marketing genius. Steve really was Apple.

Everyone thinks that about Apple products until they start using them (I was the same some years back). The key to Apple products is consistency - every device works as designed, something that we've never been able to say about Windows PC's or Android, for example. Because they make the hardware and the software, they're in full control of what their end users get.
I agree though that Steve Jobs was Apple. There's been little exciting stuff coming from them since he stepped down; Tim Cook just doesn't seem like the right guy for the job. Some things have got worse (e.g. the music app in iOS, which IMO is awful to use these days - it didn't use to be bad, and we see a lot more bugs these days than we used to - the attention to detail seems a bit lacking lately).
I'll be sticking with my iPhone 6 for now, there's little in the 7 that makes me want to change.
I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's trouble, a man alone. Now they got the whole country sectioned off, you can't make a move without a form.
