GeneralStupid Recruiters - The Story Continues PinPopular

So I'm on my 4th contract gig in a row. All 4 we're supposed to be Contract To Hire, yet in all 4 cases budgetary constrains, hiring freezes, and the like, have prevented me from going FT.

That included my current contract which will end in late October. They tried to get me in FT, but the bean counters up above said No. So I started looking and through IndeedDotCom found a FT position close to here that looked really promising. I applied.

Within a few hours I got a response email from a recruiter who said "they are interested in you" and asked for more details on my experience, which I immediately responded to.

The a week goes by. I called the recruiter 3 times, and emailed 3 times - no response.

Then yesterday afternoon I get another query about my experience. I quickly responded.

Then a few hours later I he writes back "They have decided not to pursue you due to the large number of contract positions you have on your resume".

So I wrote back "Do you have a few minutes to talk" - Mind you, I had still not yet ever spoken to the recruiter.

He responded "I'm sorry there's nothing I can do for you. They have decided against interviewing you and won't change their minds"

I was friggin steaming mad!! Mad | Mad | Mad | Mad | Mad | Mad |

Last night I emailed him this:
Dear [redacted],

I have been thinking about this all day and I wanted to take a moment to send you this.

I am very disappointed in the way you attempted to represent me for this position. I made 6 separate attempts prior to yesterday to reach you BEFORE you sent my info to the client and got no response until late yesterday.

I wanted to discuss the company and the position and my background with you prior to you sending my resume to the client. I am aware that I have a done a number of contract positions recently, and I'm aware of how companies sometimes perceive that.

However what you don't know, because you made no attempt to find out from me, is that the last 4 contract positions I worked were all supposed to be 3-5 month contract to Hire positions. In all 4 cases issues outside of my control, such as budgetary restraints, hiring freezes, project cancellations and the like have all left me looking for a new position. My resume includes references from prior position supervisors who would have all confirmed that my employment were outside of my control. The position I'm at now had the same concern, and once discussed, they decided to proceed with me.

Now, instead of your client having a very experienced, capable developer, and me having a position that I was excited about, both of us are out.

I have to say that I work almost exclusively with recruiters, and the ones that make the transition enjoyable are those that approachable, understanding, and involved with both parties. I'm sorry to say that in your case, I don't feel that way.

If this guy has picked up the phone ONCE and talked to me, I might have that job right now.

I looked him up on Linked in. He's been working as a recruiter since January. Before that he was a "Financial Analyist" for a year and a half and was a "Sales Intern" before that.

Maybe companies should research their recruiters before posting jobs.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is
