Coding Guidelines are good for teams, and those guidelines may include how comments should be written. But they are a convention only, it does not mean that other conventions are bad, and calling people following different conventions "brain-damaged" is not acceptable.
Well, see: in some countries, people drive on the left side of the road, in other countries on the right side. Both versions are possible, and none of them is superior. Problems will arise only when you mix them.

My home wifi is finally fast enough. I bought a USB 2 adapter so my laptop can communicate on 5 Ghz channels. The communication devices I found too slow were 300 baud modems. You don't see those around anymore.

The catch is many are moderately obsolescent. But if the systems you work with are moderately obsolescent, then the books are bang on.

Maybe both? Playgrounds are neat, and they can be fun and useful when doing exploratory programming. Using Clojure with Light Table is similar. But in both cases, putting together a simple application that accomplishes useful business or personal tasks is more difficult than it was using HyperCard in 1987.
It's funny; I do web development every day, and I even like most of the tools I use. When I stop and really think about it, though, it kind of feels like I'm a caveman working with sticks and stones when I compare front end web development to the rapid development that was possible (and easy) with HyperCard and classic VB 20+ years ago.

An average Windows edition was about $150 (most). Let say you use it for 5 years...That's make it $30...
I can't see W10 3 times as good as W7...

Enterprise edition was closer to $320, although you could only buy it through volume licensing with a software assurance package.

Plus, if you upgraded to a new version every 2-3 years, you'd end up paying another $220 within that five year span. That would work out at somewhere close to $108/year.
It won't be a good fit for everyone, but it's certainly not three times the price.
