In my quest to find a job/role that will keep a roof over my head I applied to a company last week
a got an email along lines 'Hi, I'm sorry we are moving...' fair enough but in the email trail leading to this was the gem, directed to the director:

Job-seeking is a pain in the ass.
Got selected for a new job in January, went through all the HR paperwork and security clearance stuff...
...and never heard from them again.
Luckily, I know people who know people, so I found out they eliminated the position.
VERY rude of them not to bother telling me, for ignoring my emails and calls, etc.
And they owe me $10 for the FedEx I had to send. :p

Often, it's already filled - they just have to go through the motions as they they didn't already pre-ordane the results. The Mrs. has had this experience with teaching positions.
She noted that it was obvious a the interview that they never read her resume.

Can you imagine how I would smell after ~27 Km of biking uphill?

We have showers at work, the only person I've ever seen use the bike rack lived at most a mile away. Much more than that in either direction and you'd start down the step part of one side of an 1000 foot ridge or the other. For some odd reason no-one ever wanted to bike up the thing in the morning.

I'm on a client site, 180 miles from home. That's a lot of cycling I'd have to do - especially when I had to cross the mountains. It might just rumple the suit.

I usually walk to work but it's going to be around 112F today so I felt driving was the safer option.

Thought about it (motorcycle) but the chance of thunderstorms made me think twice.
It would take me a couple hours to get to work on a bicycle, which I did 40 years ago.

About 50000 people in switzerland participate in Bike-To-Work[^] during May and June. That's two months! (although for the purpose of participating in the competition you just pick one month)
