Sorry, I forgot - setting the popup's parent window to the desktop window is the most important part. (I've just been looking at my own code to refresh my memory. Smile | :) ).

It didn't give me a raised border. I'm sorry I confused you, though - it's the WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW part of the WS_EX_PALETTEWINDOW part we want, and it's so that the window doesn't show in the system tray - it has nothing to do with focus. Blush | :O Blush | :O Blush | :O
