I'm reading a fantastic book : (same author as the Steve Jobs biography so it's very well researched and written).

Bill Gates
The biographical section on Bill Gates provides a lot of details about him as a hacker, a dumpster diver, a programmer and a rebel that you don't hear much about. It's extremely interesting. I've always thought Gates was creative, amazing and was very smart even though there are various opinions about him.
Anyways, if you haven't read the book, give it a read. It's really great.

I've read various high tech biographies (Gates, Jobs, Ellison) as well as histories of the various companies (Microsoft, Apple, Google, IBM, etc...). All very interesting stuff.
Particularly interesting how the various authors describe the same events completely differently.

That is true. That's also why you are very smart to read broadly about the events to see what does match up.

One day we were caught by the security guard and brought into his office, where, of all things, he called Jack Tramiel[^]. Mind you, this was now around 9 or 10 at night. Jack told him to help us load our loot into our car. Laugh |

It's a great story no matter where you post it.
Also, I read quite a bit of the wikipedia article about Jack Tramiel. Quite interesting.
I owned a Commodore 128 and I faintly remember being able to load a program from 5 1/4" disk. Something like :
Load *, 8
some nonsense like that.

I thought the first half of Issacson's book on Jobs was okay, even with all the errors, but the last half quickly became a poorly written, poorly researched, hagiography. Thus, I have little faith in anything the guy writes.

I had to look up the word hagiography. Good word.
Honestly, I stopped after the first half of the Steve Jobs book because details of Jobs character bugged me so much. It is odd that after those parts that the author turned him into a saint. Interesting and I will have to consider going back and reading that last half.
