Did you find the source which he plagiarized?
Not that I'd think it's particularly likely but the "Hide Copy Code"-bits could come from copy-pasting his own code from the preview or something like that.

And I really did look hard. It just "smells". Haven't reported it yet though.

No, that was deliberate. When the solution was automatically removed, it was tagged as change to the question, and it reappeared at the top of the unanswered list.
