Actually I am ambidextrous. When I was a kid my elder brother bet me I couldn't write my name using my left hand (I was definitely right-handed back then), so I practiced writing with my left hand until I could use both hands to write with (I tried simultaneous writing with both hands but could only do it if writing the same text - handy for doing lines at school).
Since then I have had to do various things using either hand, tech support for a while using a left-handed person's mouse on their machine, etc. and found no problem.
Learning to drive on the wrong side of the road when I moved to the US (the right side instead the of the correct, left side as a civilized country should). Using the wrong hand for gear changing caused bashed knuckles for a while until I got used to it.

I was about seven years old and practiced an hour each day for maybe two weeks. Cursive back then, block capitals these days after many, many years of writing FORTRAN on coding sheets! I have Carpal Tunnel on my right hand (most common mouse usage, probably) so when I write at all (hardly ever these days), I use my left hand mostly.

It seems that giving your right arm is actually the first step to become ambidextrous.

I'm right-handed, but found out when I was a kid that I naturally write in mirror writing with the left hand, for whenever I pretend that I'm Leonardo.

OK, wow. WHY have I never tried this before? I just discovered that I can do it too! The penmanship is sloppy (weak musculature), but the brain activity is almost automatic! I don't have to think about flipping the letters, they just come out naturally mirrored when I try it! (Except, for some reason, I had difficulty with the letter "a". But as soon as I stopped trying to force it, it just worked.)
Wow! What a perfectly useless but totally cool new trick!

my right side is so dominant, that whenever I have problems with my right hand, it really turns my living into a big mess beeing pushed to do anything with the left one.
This includes moving the mouse which is so inaccurate that it's better not to do it at all.

When I played sport (baseball, hockey), I played right-handed (because there was not left handed equipment), and that is probably why I sucked at it.

Am right-handed but moved the mouse the the left of the keyboard a few years ago. Takes a bit getting used to, then feels natural after a while.

When working with a computer it doesn't seem to matter what hand you're dominant with. Unless I'm wrong, I tend to think of typing as a task with equal strain to both hands.

Mice.
Then tend to be either "unisex" as far as handedness goes, or generally and comfortably right handed.
For example I use a trackman (upside down mouse) and that is only usable with the right hand, as the ball would by under your little finger rather than your thumb.

Well good point. I guess I should have considered that. I just never think of the idea of a left-handed mouse. It seems the designing company would lose revenue on such a product.
