The belief that onomatopoeic words are essentially the same in every language is a complete myth. The English meow (also found in most European languages) is simply a transliteration of the Egyptian word for cat (Egypt is the 'spiritual' home of the domestic cat). Korean cats go 'yaong', Kazakh cats go 'mïyawlaw', and Greek cats go Niaou. But that's nothing compared to the huge diversity of words for the sounds that dogs make. After all, we can't even fix on a single English word for it!

You obviously have never owned been the client of a cat. There is no need for them to 'get up in the morning', as they do not 'get up', ever.
Unless they're hungry or thirsty. Or they feel like scratching their claws on the good sofa. Or they want to be petted for precisely 17.65 seconds.

They're also toxic to humans, let's not forget. The only difference is that we can tolerate much higher doses because of our body mass. A dog is not going to keel over from a sip of coffee or tea or nabbing a chocolate digestive. A Chihuahua is, of course, at greater risk than a Newfoundland but even so it takes a not insignificant amount to do any real harm. It's not cyanide!

Grapes and dried grapes (raisins and sultanas) have been found to be toxic but only in a tiny proportion of animals ... I don't know that there have yet been enough reported cases to determine whether this is a genetic predisposition but it would be a fair bet. Also the actual substance involved has not yet been identified as far as I know which means that it's entirely possible that it is not carried over into juice and wine. I presume that some testing has been done in Japan which is cat mad!
