Wojciech Kilar - Générique[^]
Been listening to my awesome soundtrack playlist a lot this week.
I've been listening to Ennio Morricone, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, James Horner, Howard Shore, Yann Tiersen...
But the song of the week goes to Wojciech Kilar for two reasons. First this song is simply beautiful, one of the best I've heard. Second, you probably don't know him yet, so he deserves some credit 
The song is from the movie "Le Roi et l'Oiseau[^]", which is French for "The King and the Bird".

So there I am reminding myself of the Phrygian scale ... like you do ... well, like you do when you've just heard a bit of klezmer anyway ... and I only go and find that there's no default MIDI player on my W10 machine. Is that true of all installations or have I accidentally erased the association at some point? No big deal. I'm swimming in MIDI editors and the like. Just wondered.

I occasionally visit fantasy fairs where many (ye olde) folk bands play.
These tunes are not strange to my ears, I just never knew it was klezmer
Somehow I can always appreciate this kind of music a lot better when it's played live.

I just managed to confirm with HMRC that I don't actually have to provide receipts, invoices are enough, for about £1,000 of tax deductibles for this current year.
Now that's good but it gets even better. When I told Mrs Wife she said <quote>You are the best!!!!!!<\quote>. So the next time I really screw up and I get the standard "Why the bloody hell did I even marry you!?", I have the answer there ready!

Lucky you - My missus wouldn't be caught dead saying that I did something good - for precisely that reason. I get the same feeling from the absence of critique, but of course, I cannot use it at a later date...

I resemble that remark! I have never done PHP* and on top of that I don't do very much development on t'web.
* Slight lie, but I was managing the development not actually hacking the code.

I had to borrow a couple of symbols from a non-standard font so the puzzle can be found in image form here[^] (7, 9).
Edit: So I just posted what I thought was an amusing little puzzle. I didn't expect some kind of Spanish Inquisition[^]!
Hint 1: Try toying around with the idea of flexibility
Hint 2: If your childhood coincides with the 70s or 80s you might have been gifted this gifted one
Hint 3: whose story is told in the 2nd word at index 0, 2, 6, 7 & 8?
Answer: STRETCH ARMSTRONG
Even though the repeated characters from the first word were a bit distracting I really expected someone to spot ARMSTRONG straight away (No. 1, astronaut, down, moon, Apollo command module - how hard can it be?) leaving only the right first word to discover - a quick Google would have revealed the relevance of the trademark hero (hence the medal) being pulled apart, I thought in my innocence.
